In the US, "Don't Make Me Wait For Love" was first released in August 1987 where it only peaked at number 77 on the Hot Black Singles chart. Later that year, the song's re-issue went on to reach number 17 on the Hot Black Singles chart and number 15 on the Hot 100 chart.[3] "Don't Make Me Wait For Love" had its best showing on the Adult Contemporary music charts, where it peaked at number 2.[4]
