MT8051
I was quite surprised to stumble upon this little gem while exploring an unfamiliar area of Christchurch today, near to where a family member has just moved to.
I guess this is Opel's equivalent to the Astra GTE, as it has the same wheels and 'boy-racer' look about it. I wouldn't like a boy racer to get his hands on one of these, though - they're too rare and collectible to be thrashed about!
Opels were sold in New Zealand, but they were expensive 'sporting' models only - we got the Kadett GSi, Manta, Monza and later on, the Vectra A.
Of note is that this Kadett has a fake front number plate - it's just a card with the plate number on it!
MT8051, because it was issued before N started, would still be a black plate, not a white plate like the front suggests. The rear plate, however, is correct.
