Français : La charité de saint Martin Heures d'Étienne Chevalier, enluminées par Jean Fouquet Paris, musée du Louvre, département des Miniatures et Enluminures, RF 1679, Photo RMN Fouquet a replacé l'histoire de saint Martin dans un contexte parisien, à l'entrée du Grand Châtelet. Tandis que ses compagnons pénètrent déjà sous la voûte, Martin remet son épée au fourreau après avoir coupé son manteau en deux, vêtant le pauvre de la moitié qui lui appartenait. Au-dessous, dans la lettre O, le Christ, s'identifiant au pauvre, apparaît en songe à Martin. Deux autres épisodes de la vie du saint sont évoqués dans les panneaux du bas : sa chute provoquée par le démon et la visite de la Vierge, de sainte Agnès et de sainte Thècle.
