Description
English: Because of the increasing distance between the valence shell and the atomic nucleus, the electrostatic attraction of the valenence electrons tends to decline inside a main group from top to botton. The electronegativity also declines.
Deutsch: Innerhalb einer Hauptgruppe nimmt die Entfernung zwischen Atomkern und der Valenzsschale von oben nach unten zu. Weiterhin werden die Außenelektronen durch die inneren Schalen von der Ladung des Atomkerns zunehmend abgeschirmt. Die Anziehung der Valenzelektronen durch den Kern und die Elektronegativität nimmt deshalb von oben nach unten tendenziell ab. Hierbei treten einige gut begründbare Ausnahmen auf.
