English: The Journal Building, associated with journalism at least since 1899 and home of the Bulletin / Journal at least since 1918. Construction began in 1898 by pioneer Seattle brewer August Mehlhorn, who intended to build the entire building in stone but only 1 story was built at first. He commissioned architect Charles Haynes to add the top 3 floors in 1914, using brick.
