Description
English: Aerial view of Robert S. Kerr Lock and Dam on the Arkansas River in Le Flore and Sequoyah Counties, Oklahoma, USA. The river is the border between the two counties at this point. The lock and dam are part of the McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System, which provides for barge navigation on the Arkansas River and some of its tributaries. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers maintains the locks and navigation system. The lock and dam were named Short Mountain Lock and Dam until 1963 when their names were changed. U.S. Route 59 crosses the river on a bridge below the dam. View is to the south-southeast.
