English: William Solllie "Bill" Elmore (1915–1980) was an American aviator and government official. Originally from Wyoming, Elmore came to Alaska following World War II and was one of the earliest settlers in what is now the southernmost portion of Anchorage, Alaska proper (Elmore Road, a major thoroughfare in southeast Anchorage, was named in his honor). Elmore was a pilot for many years, and at the time of photo was serving as Alaska's adjutant general during the second governorship of William A. Egan.
