The waterfall, descending from a height of 150 m (492 ft),[3] is situated in Kullu district, and lies at a distance of about 6 km (3.7 mi) north of the Bijli Mahadev Temple, a Hindu temple dedicated to Shiva.[4][2] The waterfall is encircled by pine forests and rocky cliffs.[5]

Every year in March, a fair is held at the waterfall, when thousands of tourists and devotees gather to bathe in its waters, which are believed to be sacred.[6][2]

The waterfall is accessible by road. The nearest airport is Kullu–Manali Airport.[2]
