Early life and education
editAchileas-Andreas was born on 12 August 2000 at Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York City. He was christened in a Greek Orthodox ceremony at St. Sophia's Cathedral in London on 7 June 2001.[4][citation needed]
He grew up in London from 2004 when his family decided to move to the United Kingdom to stay near his paternal grandparents. He was educated at Wellington College in Berkshire. He moved back to New York when his older brother and sister started university. He attended New York University, graduating in 2023.[5]
Personal life
editOn September 28, 2024, Achileas-Andreas served as a groomsman at the wedding of Princess Theodora of Greece and Denmark and Matthew Kumar at the Metropolitan Cathedral in Athens.[6]
Achileas-Andreas was in a relationship with Isabella Massenet, daughter of Dame Natalie Massenet, until October 2024.[7]
On 19 December 2024, Achileas-Andreas, his father, his four siblings, and his aunts and uncles submitted an application for Greek citizenship, which had been stripped from the family in 1994. Under law, Achileas-Andreas and his family, in order to receive citizenship, must pledge allegiance to the republican constitution and have a surname. Ultimately, the surname of "Ντε Γκρες" (De Grèce; "of Greece") was chosen. Of this, the Deputy Minister to the Greek Prime Minister, Pavlos Marinakis, said to Action 24 that their "request was made in accordance with the law", while the left-wing SYRIZA party stated "the choice of family name is problematic".[8] It was reported by the royal family that this surname was chosen as it was the one used by the late Prince Michael of Greece and Denmark, so was the "only familiar one" to them.[9] The following day, Achileas-Andreas's citizenship, alongside that of his family, was reinstated according to the provisions of the 1994 law.[10] Their citizenships were granted to them by Minister of the Interior, Theodoros Livanios.[11]
Career
editBetween 2017 and 2019, he made guest appearances on the American television soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful.[12][13] Under the stage name of Achi Miller, he got a small role in Jennifer Lawrence's 2023 movie No Hard Feelings.[14]
