About & accreditation
editThe Sage Hill is also accredited by the California Association of Independent Schools (CAIS) and by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges since 2003.[1][3]
The school has an average class size of 14 students and offers more than 40 AP, Honors and post-AP classes.[4] The Lisa Argyros & Family Science Center houses teaching and learning space for biology, chemistry and physics as well as interdisciplinary study of science and long-term research.[citation needed]
Middle School program
editIn 2023, Sage Hill School announced its plan to be the first 7-12 independent school in Orange County. With a projected opening date for grades 7 and 8 in August 2026, Sage Hill shared it would accept applications for the inaugural 7th and 8th grade classes during the 2025-2026 school year.
The Newport Beach Planning Commission unanimously voted to approve the development of Sage Hill’s middle school on December 7, 2023.[5] This action allows for construction of the three-story middle school building and increased Sage Hill’s maximum student enrollment from 600 to 750 students. The project will also add a second gymnasium with seating capacity for more than 1,000 people.
Joseph Moody was named as the founding Director of Middle School effective July 1, 2024.[6]
The school sold ~$54 million of municipal bonds to finance the building of a middle school and new athletic facilities.[7]
Athletics
editThe school offers 22 interscholastic sports totaling 42 teams at all levels of competition.[citation needed]
