why is luis alberto spinetta not in the deaths list?

edit

i mean, he was a worldwide singer in the spanish-speaking music, so why dont you added it to the deaths list?, i mean, he got a lot of tributes in the day of his death ShaggyAnimate (talk) 22:08, 10 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Mali war on the collage

edit

can someone put the Mali war on the 2012 collage 4me689 (talk) 02:13, 1 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

So which event are you going to replace? I recommend replacing the 2012 phenomenon, which is the most controversial. Nagae Iku (talk) 07:25, 1 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
I would say that or Sandy Hook, but in my opinion i'll lead more towards the 2012 phenomenon 4me689 (talk) 07:34, 1 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
Emmmm, with your reminder, I now also support replacing Sandy Hook. Additionally, I hope to replace the Costa Concordia disaster with Typhoon Bopha. This was the deadliest disaster in terms of fatalities in 2012, causing 1,901 deaths. However, the issue is that although Sandy Hook and the Costa Concordia disaster caused only 28 and 33 deaths respectively, their articles are both over 200,000 bytes long and have had a wide social impact. From this perspective, replacing them makes me feel uneasy. Nagae Iku (talk) 06:36, 2 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Nagae Iku, I would say replace Sandy Hook with the July 2012 solar storm as it was a big news event back in 2012. 4me689 (talk) 08:05, 2 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
I don't really support this. This solar storm didn't successfully hit the Earth and did not cause any damage. I don't think it's worth taking up a grid in the collage.🤔 Nagae Iku (talk) 08:28, 2 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
2 other candidates are the Innocence of Muslims which cause mast demonstrations and violent protests across North Africa, the Middle East and South Asia & Felix Baumgartner's famous jump which was the first to break the sound barrier without any machine assistance, i would lean more towards Felix Baumgartner's famous jump. also I wonder what is @The ganymedian thoughts on this as I remember talking to him about the 2012 collage last year. 4me689 (talk) 14:33, 2 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
Well, I lean more towards Innocence of Muslims. It caused a huge uproar in the Muslim world with a population of 1.6 billion. As for Felix Baumgartner, I have read your discussion with The ganymedian, and it seems that it was a discarded plan. Specifically, the reason was that the screenshot of Felix Baumgartner's instant jump was removed due to copyright issues, and I don't know if there is any other image that can replace that iconic picture.
So we have listed so many events, each of which seems so important, and it makes me sad to let go of any of them. Why not try a 16-grid plan? Nagae Iku (talk) 17:45, 2 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
Well ok then, I now lean towards the Innocence of Muslims 4me689 (talk) 18:17, 2 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
Fine, let me summarize the events that have been compiled:
Typhoon Bopha
Hurricane Sandy
Innocence of Muslims
Mali war
Curiosity (rover)
Higgs boson
Gangnam Style
2012 Summer Olympics
If you confirm that these events are correct, I am ready to start creating a collage. Additionally, I'm also planning to create a 16-grid version of the collage, and you can also provide new suggestions. Nagae Iku (talk) 18:36, 2 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
That line up looks good, go ahead and make the collage. 4me689 (talk) 19:33, 2 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
I have already uploaded and am filling out the copyright information. Nagae Iku (talk) 19:38, 2 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

2012 Events Collage V4
@4me689 The fourth generation version of the collage is uploaded , with some minor adjustments made to the third generation version. For example, the positions of the Higgs boson and the Curiosity Mars rover have been swapped, as the image of Curiosity is more suitable for a square. I believe the significance of the Higgs boson is more important, even deserves a place in the 2010s collage, so it has been given the rectangular space. Nagae Iku (talk) 19:53, 2 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
I like this version, you mind putting it on the 2012 page. as for the Higgs boson on the 2010s collage I started a discussion on the 2010s talk page about it, also @Nagae Iku you mind making all the decade collages look like the year collages fixing the image resolutions and getting rid of the black lines separating the images, some of the decade collages may need it. 4me689 (talk) 20:56, 2 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

2010s decade montage
I wouldn't mind, otherwise why would I have created it? As for the issue of the Higgs boson in the 2010s collage, it was actually because of this version of the 2010s collage that I saw the problem. But after careful consideration, if all events similar in influence like the Higgs boson were included in the 2010s collage, the 2010s collage would expand to 16 grid. Nagae Iku (talk) 02:40, 3 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
In the future, please expand the consensus to more than two people next time you edit a collage. DementiaGaming (talk) 19:39, 15 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
Sandy Hook shooting should have been the most important event on the collage 2002:88E4:67C5:0:3829:7D37:96F1:871E (talk) 17:34, 14 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

This is the effect of a 16-grid collage in the article, how do you feel about it? Can it resolve the current controversy? Nagae Iku (talk) 06:04, 19 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

From left to right, top to bottom: the passenger cruise ship Costa Concordia lies capsized after the Costa Concordia disaster; Iron Dome defense missiles during the 2012 Israeli operation in the Gaza Strip; Austrian skydiver Felix Baumgartner becomes the first person to break the sound barrier without any machine assistance, during a record space dive out of the Red Bull Stratos helium-filled balloon from 128,000ft ; damage to Casino Pier in Seaside Heights, New Jersey as a result of Hurricane Sandy; MV Rabaul Queen capsized and later sank in rough conditions, killing 88 to 223 people; people gather at a Mayan temple to commemorate the end of 13th bʼakʼtun in the Mayan calendar on December 21, when it was predicted a doomsday event would occur; the 2012 Summer Olympics are held in London, United Kingdom; Typhoon Bopha made landfall at its highest intensity and hit Mindanao, Philippines, causing 1,901 deaths; Dana Air Flight 992 accident killed 159 people; NASA's Curiosity Rover lands on the surface of Mars; the Higgs boson, an elementary particle, is discovered by CERN and revolutionizes quantum physics; Tuareg militants, seen driving near Timbuktu, Mali during the Mali war; the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting caused shock and outrage across the United States; the century's second and last solar transit of Venus occurs; a crowd of protesters at the 2012 Sydney Anti-Islamic Film Demonstration protest against the film Innocence of Muslims; K-pop artist Psy performs his hit single "Gangnam Style", which became a cultural phenomenon in 2012.
Nagae Iku (talk) 07:05, 19 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
No, I think it makes it worse. We are supposed to see the images and not just the caption, correct? DementiaGaming (talk) 13:37, 19 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
Well, go back to using the eight-grid plan. How about this: replace Gangnam Style with the 2012 phenomenon, both were cultural phenomena of that year, but the later is obviously more well-known; then replace the Mali War that you strongly oppose with the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. I would also like to suggest changing the date format of this article to the DMY format (e.g. 6 June 2020 as opposed to June 6, 2020). The DMY format seems more international and more suitable for a "global" article like. Also DMY simply makes more sense as it goes from smallest to highest.

At the village pump, I've presented a proposal to establish a standard to use DMY in general for all articles about "generic" years. The discussion got kind of messy however, and I'll propaly restart it at some point. In the meantime, I would like it to create consensus about changing it for specifically this and all other nine articles about the 2010s--Marginataen (talk) 16:13, 28 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
