BGN
editBGN native name: ‘Aqrah; variants: Ākrē; Aora; Aqra

Move
editThe BGN isn't determinative and this should go at its most COMMON ENGLISH name which is probably Aqra these days. In any case, this article is the PRIMARYTOPIC for Aqra: it either needs to be there or that needs to be a redirect to here. The Chaldean diocese based in the town may have a longer article at the moment but it's not actually the primary topic: it needs to be shunted to Diocese of Aqra or Aqra (diocese) (or whatever the common English name of the place turns out to be). — LlywelynII 01:01, 5 September 2015 (UTC)

No consensus. Don't see general agreement below to rename this article. As is usual with a no-consensus outcome, editors can strengthen their arguments and try again in a few months to garner consensus for this title change. Kudos to editors for your input, and Happy Publishing! (nac by page mover) Paine Ellsworth, ed. put'r there 18:43, 14 July 2019 (UTC)
It was proposed in this section that Aqrah be renamed and moved to Akre.

- Being the English language Wikipedia we will need evidence that English language WP:RELIABLESOURCES call the city Arke.--64.229.166.98 (talk) 03:13, 1 July 2019 (UTC)
- Oppose, Aqrah is more widespread and the common English name of the town.[1] 94.25.95.62 (talk) 09:40, 1 July 2019 (UTC)

Aqrah → Akre – Akre is the native name of the city. Aqrah is the Arabic style. The people of the city and other Kurdish people call the city Akre, also the name Akre written in road signs and in government websites Serchia (talk) 11:50, 5 January 2020 (UTC)

- Oppose: Aqrah is the common English name of the city and Akre is only the Kurdish name of the city. Neutrale Person (talk) 14:23, 5 January 2020 (UTC)
- That's a baseless claim. What do you base it on? --Semsurî (talk) 15:37, 5 January 2020 (UTC)
- Support Akre is the correct name of the City. It has been used for hundreds of years not Aqrah! Mohammads97 (talk) 16:27, 5 January 2020 (UTC)
