Gall vs Burl

edit

I was seeking information on this image. Which opened up confusion as to whether it is an example of galls or burls. Neither article addresses the relationship with the other so I had to leave Wikipedia for the answer. On the other hand, burls are also abnormal growths found on plants, but they have some distinct differences from galls. Burls are typically bark-covered and display a wildly contorted grain. Unlike galls, burls are not caused by specific gall-inducing organisms but rather by the plant’s own response to stress or injury. etc.  . Perhaps one or both articles Galls and burls could head off the confusion such as I ran in to. RandomReplicator (talk) 19:59, 26 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
