Contradictory ("limited significance")

Why?

At the opening of the French chambers in January 1866, Napoleon III announced that he would withdraw French troops from Mexico.”
Why specifically did the French subside? This is important information. It leaves a person guessing as to the intrinsic factors that caused this. Ktomaska (talk) 04:26, 10 February 2023 (UTC)
Moving aftermath info out of first paragraph
editThe info about Zaragoza and the aftermath is beneficial, but feels extremely discursive for the first paragraph of the article. I recommend cutting that first paragraph off after "led by General Zaragoza" but weaving the rest of the facts from this opening paragraph into the history section.
