Political allegiance

As of Dec 15 2006 the article says "liberal".

Well... "liberal" does not mean a lot. To USAns it would mean "left wing". To others it would mean "defender of free markets". In Argentina, some would interpret as endorsing the ideas of Alvaro Alsogaray, which it does not.

Clarin has a long history of being desarrollista (the political party of Arturo Frondizi - Rogelio Frigerio) and also of sacrificing all principles when it comes to money.

It also owns a distinctly left-wing newspaper called Pagina 12.

I would eliminate altogether, or change to desarrollista with a link to the most appropriate article... elpincha 14:50, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

Poor article.

We have to make this article more complete and informative. the article itself is very short and not very descriptive. the Spanish version has been influenced by the government supporter's vision. therefore, i propose, to expand it with RELEVANT info about the best seller news paper of Argentina. regards.196.34.139.36 (talk) 14:34, 5 October 2010 (UTC)

That's a fair concern, but there's a basic problem: this is an article about a newspaper. Unless forced otherwie by extraordinary circumstances, a newspaper is only a medium, not the subject of news. The "history" of a newspaper would be only filled with "boring" information, such as the dates of going from black & white to colour, rises of sales, new suplements, etc. It would be hard to really grow much more than this.

Consider that the problem with the article in Spanish is not that it provides information in a tendentious manner that may be fixed. It provides cherry-picked information to unbalance the NPOV, which simply does not belong at all in there. The article is bigger but not because of being more developed, there's a trivia section and a trial against a blog, which would have to be deleted, and two sections with 2 lines of content that should be merged elsewhere. If the article was fixed in such points, it wouldn't be very different than this one. MBelgrano (talk) 16:45, 5 October 2010 (UTC)

Most visited Spanish language newspaper on the Internet

The Article claims that according to Alexa, Clarín is the "most visited Spanish language newspaper on the Internet". In fact Alexa.com ranks it well after El País and El Mundo. Neoliberalism

One is user is trying to add "neoliberalism" as the political alignment. That is wrong. Clarín published many opinion pieces that were against neoliberalism. For example:

Is not one user who did the edit, after another user with the ip 200.41.187.199 did that edit reverted by you I added it again. Those links you posted here are opinion articles, not the alignenment of the newspaper, who is the same of the actual government as can be seen just be checkimg their website. I have checked their web site, and they have no section claiming which is their political alignment. Searching elsewhere, I have found that in the book "Así lo viví" Magnetto mentions "la tradición desarrollista del diario y la mirada progresista de varios de sus periodistas". ("the developmentalist tradition of the newspaper and the progressivist view of many of its journalists"). What about you? Do you have a reference of some official site or authority of Clarín openly saying that they are right-wing and neoliberals? Cambalachero (talk) 12:38, 29 November 2018 (UTC)

The newspaper openly support the actual right-wing, neoliberal government (and every politician with the same alignment) and they did from before they were elected, you can read it on every cover for the last decade. The progressivist view, the opposite political line, was mainly on Pàgina 12 newspaper--Agustin6 (talk) 18:57, 29 November 2018 (UTC)

Read again what I wrote, your answer makes not sense whatsoever, I'm talking about every politic the newspaper supported or promoted from the last 40 years; that is what political alignement is, not what they say they are; I leave it to you the choice between "right-wing", or "neoliberalism", then I'll make the edit. Orphaned references in Clarín (Argentine newspaper)

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Clarín (Argentine newspaper)'s orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.
