Rumour to Stoke

edit

I removed the ending rumour regarding Stoke being repeatedly linked with him as, as far as I'm concerned I've not heard him linked once with a move to Stoke. It also says that a £4 million bid was in the offing this just in my opinion added the rumour as being complete rubbish. I added the reference about Birmingham because there are sources such as BBC Sports that prove Kitson has been linked with Birmingham and not Stoke. If someone can prove that Stoke have any official interest from a news source from a respectable news source such as: SkySports, BBC Sport, ITV etc then the information can be re-corrected. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.54.229.223 (talk) 09:58, 16 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Would the Stoke fans please stop deleting the fact a bid was made from Birmingham and got rejected it gets rather annoying. Fact a bid was made. 83.104.51.181 (talk) 20:23, 22 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Um, I'm not a Stoke fan, for the record. Pullshapes (talk) 20:57, 23 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Trivia

edit

The reference to an appearance on Soccer AM is pretty trivial, given that it's a programme about football! I'd imagine that a large proportion of Premiership players appear on this programme during a season. Unless this appearance was particularly notable, I suggest this is deleted (and if it is notable, a reason for its notability should be included). Kruador 16:47, 25 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Education

edit

The following was added by 138.38.32.84 (talk):

Kitson is well known for his continuing education at the [[University of Bath]] in Lower West England, and is know studying a degree in Business, which he hopes to have completed by the year 2009. See [http://www.bath.ac.uk/person/768817] for more details.

Kitson isn't well known for this at all... if anyone can confirm that the D A Kitson who's studying at Bath is the same person as the Reading footballer, then feel free to add it back into the article. Robwingfield (talk) 00:00, 23 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Edit history says: Paragraph not dubious, but true. Reference is clear. left by 138.38.32.84 (talk)

I haven't seen any references provided. Please cite a references that shows that the D A Kitson studying in Bath is the same person as Reading footballer. Robwingfield (talk) 13:47, 23 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Look man, the refernece speaks for itself. Email him to verify if you really want, or the university, but dont waste my time removing this. (Re-added educational status as of 2006) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 138.38.32.84 (talkcontribs) .

I added the above from your edit history as you seem unwilling to discuss this here. I'm going to tag your statement as requiring a citation. The link does NOT speak for itself. As I've said before, there's no suggestion that the D A Kitson who's studying at Bath is the same person as the Reading footballer - a quick check on the Electoral Roll lists 106 David Kitsons... and we don't even know that D A Kitson is a David. If no citation is available within a week, I'll revert your edit - and I'll consider any attempt to readd the information as vandalism without a citation. Robwingfield (talk) 22:36, 25 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

What ARE you talking about? Bath University finder states ONE David Kitson. His name is clearly mentioned on the citation I added. It says in clear letters DAVID KITSON. Like I said, the link does speak for itself and if you need any further proof beyond the official univeristy electoral roll, then email him or the university. What more proof do you need than the univeristy saying he goes there? Geez. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 138.38.32.84 (talkcontribs) 00:50, 26 May 2006 (UTC).Reply

No, I'm talking about the UK Electoral Roll, not the Bath University student roll. What I was trying to point out was that there are many David Kitsons, so the page you've linked can't be proven to be the footballer just because it's got the right surname and first initial. And it doesn't say in clear letters DAVID KITSON. It says D A Kitson. That page just proves that there's someone called D A Kitson studying at Bath, there's nothing to link it to Dave Kitson who plays for Reading. Robwingfield (talk) 00:31, 26 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Okay, as no citation has been forthcoming, and nobody I've checked with has heard of Kitson studying a couple of hours away from where he lives and plays, I've removed this "fact". Please discuss here before re-adding. Re-adding without discussing here will be deemed vandalism. Robwingfield (talk) 16:18, 5 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hes on facebook as a Bath student...—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 86.20.30.245 (talkcontribs) 05:43, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

Got a link? Is it the Dave Kitson, or a namesake? robwingfield «TC» 12:59, 8 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
Okay i have settled this dispute once and for all by adding the Dave kitson on facebook who does business management and... its not the dave kitson who plays for Reading- case closed- and his email addy according to facebook is the same as the one given on the profile of him on the bath website (just to prove its not ANOTHER Dave Kitson at bath).—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 86.20.33.242 (talkcontribs) 19:47, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

Guys its annoying me that you keep repeating "D A Kitson" Hasn't anyone realised that the REAL Kitsons middle name BARRY so D A KITSON is not the footballer you think he is —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.2.13.207 (talk) 23:02, 18 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

International career section

edit

Right, here are my citations for the international career section:

In an interview with Kitson in a Reading programme (I believe it was for the Fulham game?) he said that he'd met Sanchez in the gym. Sanchez had guessed that Kitson was partially Irish due to his ginger hair, and asked Kitson if he was eligible for Northern Ireland. Kitson said he wasn't, an that was the end. As Sanchez still lives in Reading (his son attends Leighton Park School), this is entirely plausible.

It's pretty well known Kitson was the top English scorer in the Premier League for a large amount of the English season 07-08 until he was overtaken by Wayne Rooney, Jermain Defoe and midfielders Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard.

He was touted for a call up before the friendly with Switzerland, I distinctly remember The Independent (British newspaper) suggesting that he might be in with a chance- I think there was a picture of him in the article, even.

As for the "Brum bid for Kitson", the BBC (which is generally reliable) reported it, and I don't see why that's not an acceptable source. SCIAG (talk) 20:48, 13 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Re: the FA Cup in 2008

In retort to what Kitson said one footballer from an older generation reportedly said: "Right,so I'll show my grandchildren my FA Cup winner's medal and he can tell his how he stayed up that year." And Reading didn't even stay up,so it was really worth not bothering with the FA Cup then wasn't it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.29.41.199 (talk) 01:05, 6 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
