Could obviously be improved by having example photos with flaps up and down, rather than just the hat flat on a table.2.29.92.210 (talk) 17:17, 29 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Worn in rural areas, fine, but wouldn't it be good to say in what countries, at least?

Could someone remove that nonsense at the bottom of the page? 92.11.205.84 (talk) 17:43, 29 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Why deer stalkers?

edit

I know this might sound like a basic question but - Does anyone know why exactly deerstalker hats were worn to stalk deer in? Were they just typical country hats that became synonymous with stalking? Or were they designed for or found to be particularly useful for that purpose or what? This really does seem like the kind of thing that should be on this page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.151.5.171 (talk) 14:05, 22 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Good question. I think it was because, due to the lack of brims on the side, you could handle a rifle or shotgun without knocking off your hat. At the same time your face and the back of your neck got protection.--Jack Upland (talk) 19:24, 11 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

The Curious Mystery of the Deerstalker in London

edit

Holmes was believed to be dead and had been on the run for the last few years after the death of Professor Moriarty. As he was living out of the trunk, perhaps he did not have a full regalia of clothes to wear the night he laid the trap for Colonel Moran, Or, as he was still wearing his seedy frock coat disguise, perhaps he wished to look less like his usually dapper self as he and Watson crept through their own neighborhood.
