editBursar is a job position not a name, several characters have had the position of bursar during the Discworld series.
The early books feature a different cast of University staff each time, but arounf Guards Guards (or thereabouts) he settles down on a bunch of regulars. "The Bursar" is one of these; I'm not sure if he's ever given a name. -- Tarquin 07:53 Sep 1, 2002 (PDT)
IIRC. Near the end of Sourcery all of the leading wizards including the current burasr (Spelter I believe) get turned to stoned. --Imran
- I thought they just went off and were teribly embarrassed at having tried to take over the world. -- Tarquin
- The Light Fantastic is the one where the faculty is turned into stone at the end; in Sourcery they do just go off and by terribly embarrassed about their role in the near-end of the world - except Bursar Spelter, who was one of the few who actually tried to do something about it, and is consequently dead.
- The current Bursar's name is Dr A. A. Dinwiddie, according to The Truth, but everyone still just refers to him as "the Bursar".

Do we really need disambiguation for a lot of these names? -- Zoe
- We don't need articles on a lot of these names, IMO. I's suggest stripping this page of red. Martin 16:18, 4 Dec 2003 (UTC)
- I second it! We might even want to move some of the entries from individual pages back to here and delete the individual entries. I enjoy the discworld stories, and being able to read the entries here is fun...but there's just too much of it, much more than is warranted. Let's at least remove the linkness of red entries so it doesn't imply that there should be articles about them. RJFJR 15:29, 18 Dec 2004 (UTC)
Many of the recurring characters do not, in fact, recur. As a few of them are deceased, they are unlikely to do so in the future. Can we (should we?) split the recurring and non-recurring minor characters? ::Didactylos 20:54, 2 January 2006 (UTC)
A pantheon of gods...
editI propose trimming down the list of gods to only include deities that actually have a major role in one or more novels. The "single mention, barely a paragraph" gods have no place here, and can be (and are) listed on the Discworld Gods page. ::Didactylos 13:16, 11 February 2006 (UTC)
Tiffany Aching?
editI haven't looked extensively, but she doesn't seem to have info anywhere. Does anyone feel like adding her in? 81.151.90.41 16:37, 2 May 2006 (UTC)
She has a tiny paragraph to herself in the Witches (Discworld) section.Serendipodous
Is this list necessary?
editMost of these characters can be accessed by the category list, are in Discworld gods or Discworld characters or have their own pages. It seriously needs tidying up. Serendipodous 18:19, 8 May 2006 (UTC)
Cleaning up.

Misdirect?
editI've just realised that Talk:Discworld characters redirects to Talk:List of Discworld characters (where we are now) when there is in fact a page for Discworld characters, previously at Minor Discworld characters. Would it be acceptable to move Talk:Minor Discworld characters to the appropriate page, and add the discussion on this page that refers to the Discworld characters page? Daibhid C 12:18, 12 June 2006 (UTC)
- Do it. Having two articles link to the same talk page is an obvious error. --Chrismith 17:24, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

Proposed merger with Discworld characters article
editA common spot to discuss the {{merge}} template. — MrDolomite • Talk 10:42, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
Merge makes scenes because some of the names on List of Discworld characters link to Discworld characters but arnt actualy on it it. --Climax-Void Chat or My Contributions
The Gonne
editI realize that the gonne is mentioned as a character in the gonne article, but I would like to write one here. Are there any objections? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.58.199.114 (talk) 00:26, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
- Yes objection, because the gonne is not a character, and this is a list of Discworld characters. It is an inanimate object. Feel free to improve the current text at gonne. —Vanderdecken∴ ∫ξφ 17:05, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
