Move from Bobita to Babita?
edit- Following a post at the article I checked Google books to compare the usage of Bobita v. Babita. The searches included Satyajit Ray, since that filmography seems the most notable. "Bobita" satyajit ray [1] - 2 Google book results; "Babita" satyajit ray [2] 70 Google book results. I posted a name change request at WP:Requested moves in the non-controversial section - if someone objects, pls reply here. Novickas (talk) 21:00, 28 September 2010 (UTC)
- Searching in Google books is a bad measure of the usage of the actress's name. A better way would be to check what the Bangladeshi news media (English language) uses to refer to her. Babita actress at Daily Star vs. Bobita actress at Daily Star. However, this pair of searches support your proposal that Babita is the more commonly used spelling. --Ragib (talk) 21:34, 28 September 2010 (UTC)
- New name is more widely used in reliable sources - compare Google book results for "Bobita" satyajit ray (2) vs "Babita" satyajit ray (70). See article talk page for links to Bobita/Babita Gbook search results. There is a redirect to Babita already. - It seems that Babita is one actress and Bobita is another actress. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 21:57, 28 September 2010 (UTC)
- Hmm. The most accurate solution would be a disambiguation page for Babita, since it might be pretty hard to determine which is the primary topic. (Wikipedia:Disambiguation). But a disambig page would need to fix what looks like a couple hundred internal links.
As a quicker solution, does anyone object to renaming this article Farida Akhter? She might actually have more of a presence as F.A. rather than as B. in reliable sources like books [3], scholarly articles [4], and U.S. university sites [5]. That would be in line with Wikipedia:Article titles, which asks us to check usage in reliable sources. With hatnote on both pages - 'This article is about Babita Kapoor, an Indian actress. For the Bangladeshi actress and social activist known as Babita or Bobita, see Farida Akhter', and vice-versa.Novickas (talk) 15:47, 29 September 2010 (UTC)
- I strongly object to renaming it to Farida Akhtar. The actress is virtually never referred to by that name. None of her movie credits are by that name. **All** the links from your google searches point to a different person by that name. So, that is a completely unacceptable solution. I think the disambig page is the way to go. --Ragib (talk) 16:04, 29 September 2010 (UTC)
- Ok, withdrew that. But where do we go from here? I guess I'm OK with the current set-up - not motivated enough to fix all the links if a disambig is created. Novickas (talk) 14:17, 30 September 2010 (UTC)
