Is the generic name Guaruba or Guarouba? The article shows no preference, it uses both. 70.210.166.118 (talk) 15:23, 27 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, it's Guaruba. I fixed it in the taxobox. bibliomaniac15 16:19, 28 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

New Image

edit

Hi, I uploaded this image which is significantly sharper, larger, and has a less restrictive copyright. I hope you can use it. http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Image:Guaruba_guarouba_001_1280.jpg —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tomfriedel (talkcontribs) 15:10, 6 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Who wants to see birds in a cage?

edit

The current image is sharp enough, but the one I uploaded (now moved into Gallery) is sharper and shows all important features. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tomfriedel (talkcontribs) 04:23, 19 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page so Wikipedia doesn't look bad. :) Thanks! howcheng {chat} 16:41, 13 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

The Golden Parakeet (Guaruba guarouba) is an endangered species of Neotropical parrot that lives in the drier, upland rainforests in the Amazon Basin. Males and females appear alike, being mainly yellow with green in the outer wings and with an all-yellow tail. It has a breeding system that is almost unique amongst parrots, as pairs are aided by a number of helpers which aid in the raising of the young.Photo: Ironman br

Conure

edit

The actual name is the Conure, not the parakeet, why hasn't anyone read the books about this animal explaining why it is classified as a conure? Still, just something to mention while reading in the library.140.198.42.45 (talk) 01:20, 23 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Taxonomically and zoologically, it's a parakeet. In aviculture, it's a conure. Wikipedia's convention is to use the proper scientific name as the article title, with alternate names following, and other colloquial names, if there are any, related to text of other sections.Sbalfour (talk) 20:59, 14 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
