Behavioral Ecology and Notes on Improvements
editThe overall organization of the page is not aligned with the common structure of the species pages in WikiProject Birds. The page is lacking a table of context, which makes the page difficult to navigate. Furthermore, it is lacking the general accepted article section titles, which further lowers its quality. There is little concrete detail on the behavior of the birds, the page primarily focusing on the species distribution and description. Particularly absent is mention of the species sexual behavior. The most common mating system in songbirds like the Great Reed Warbler is monogamy, however there is frequent engagement in extra pair mating. While the page delicately alludes to this, it is inadequate in describing females’ solicitation of these extra-pair mating. The song repertoire of males, adequately identified in the description, is used to attract extra-pair mates. As well as notes on breeding behavior, this page would also benefit from details regarding feeding behavior. However, since Great Reed Warblers are songbirds, it is a nice touch that the page includes a recording of their song. This page is adequately assigned a rating of “stub,” because of its lack of organization. Samara levine (talk) 03:46, 21 September 2012 (UTC)
- You are welcome to add to the content with suitably referenced material. The article is arguably "start" quality, since it is reasonably referenced, but stub is OK. Note that a table of contents is added automatically when there are three or more sections. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 06:58, 21 September 2012 (UTC)
That will result in the following banner (and make the articles easy to track):
Peer Review
editYou did a really good job on the Mating section of this article. I changed a couple of sentences that I found awkward and added links to words in your section and in the rest of the article. Overall the grammar and the sentence structure were good so there was not much to be corrected. To get it to good article standing, the behavior section, as well as the rest of the article, needs to be expanded. These sections could include parenting and any kind of vocalizations that this bird displays. More about environment and diet as well as expansion of the description section are also needed.
