editAnybody know what the 'H' stands for? Torc 01:40, 24 June 2006 (UTC)
- Haffectation? (Obscure Katz joke) I don't find anything that says and he never seems to say.--T. Anthony 18:06, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
- The only clue I've found is here, where he refers to his "brother" Hubert. That might be it, (or he might actually have a brother named Hubert). Torc2 (talk) 09:05, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
His role as Coach McGuirk in Home Movies is one of the funniest characters on TV.
It's Herschel. That's why he hates it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 151.191.175.227 (talk) 16:36, 17 June 2014 (UTC)
Home Movies
editIn one of the special features on a Home Movies DVD, there is an audio track of a radio appearance that H. Jon did. He speaks exclusively through some type of vocoder or similar sounding device and claims that it saves strain on his vocal chords by synthesizing a voice, rather than using the vocal chords. Knowing his type of humor, I'm always hesitant to believe anything he says, but he stuck with it (and his story) through the whole interview. Anyone know if there's any truth to this, or if such a device even exists? Thanks Tstreet (talk) 20:22, 29 August 2008 (UTC)
- I'm fairly certain it was a joke. The only similar device that I can think of is the electrolarynx. --TM 21:15, 29 August 2008 (UTC)
Picture
editDoes anyone have a better picture that can be used in the InfoBox, this one is just awful, Benjamin looks like a homeless person. Dancing is Forbidden (talk) 14:25, 4 April 2010 (UTC)
- I've added a new photo. Gage (talk) 11:31, 5 August 2010 (UTC)
Bob's Burgers
editIn the filmography table, should Bob's Burgers years be listed as 2011? The show debuted on FOX on 1/9/11- it was in production in 2010. Kjscotte34 (talk) 17:35, 11 January 2011 (UTC)
- The filmography is correct to list 2011. Filmographies list the dates of release, not the dates of production (which may vary widely from the release dates, and aren't always completely public or available from reliable public sources). Jbbdude (talk) 17:49, 18 April 2016 (UTC)
Category: American Jews
editHe is American. He is Jewish. Can I add him to the category: American Jews? Anibar E (talk) 14:59, 11 October 2012 (UTC)
External links
editPer Wikipedia's rules about appropriate vs. inappropriate external links, the external links section is meant to contain only the one or two most directly relevant web pages, such as an actor's own website and/or his profile on IMDb, and is not meant to become a comprehensive directory of every page you can possibly find that has any connection to him at all. Accordingly, the following links are not appropriate in that section — they may potentially be cited as references for article content, where appropriate, but are not suitable for direct listing as straight external links.
- Interview from June 10, 2011 with SanDiego.com
- Jon Benjamin: Almost a rabbi That Other Paper
- Interview with Suicidegirls.com
- Interview with Kittenpants.org
- Ten Questions with H. Jon Benjamin
- Audio Interview with The Sound of Young America public radio show
- Interview from March 2007 from SXSW Festival

filmography
editShouldn't the filmography list move forward chronologically, rather then backward? Icarus of old (talk) 02:03, 20 April 2013 (UTC)
- Indeed it should. Bearcat (talk) 07:21, 1 June 2013 (UTC)
Jon Benjamin denies "Henry"
editH. Jon Benjamin, while failing to provide the truth of the H, has claimed that it's not Henry at 27:39 in "On The Verge"'s episode from July 3, 2013[1]. --TIB (talk) 07:55, 5 July 2013 (UTC)

Picture
editIs that really Jon Benjamin? Looks more like Jason Statham. But it's the lighting. Silas Maxfield (talk) 20:06, 27 January 2015 (UTC)
Family Guy in filmography
editShould Family Guy really be listed twice in the filmography just because he played two different characters? Shouldn't they be combined? Jbbdude (talk) 17:45, 18 April 2016 (UTC)

Organise career?
editI tried organising the large blob of info under "career" but got nowhere. Should we organise it chronologically? By type of activity (comedy/live-action/voice work/commercial/music)? Something else? Right now, it's pretty unreadable.SQB (talk) 13:20, 25 September 2020 (UTC)
Explaining initialism name at beginning at article
editI added, and then reverted a removal of a short blurb explaining the initialism for his name. Having a tiny (less than a sentence) statement saying that he is credited professionally as H. Jon Benjamin is necessary given that the article uses that initialism (presumably to comply with COMMONNAME), and otherwise the article does not mention the relationship between that and his full name, given at the very beginning of the article. Cat-fivetc ---- 03:31, 1 November 2021 (UTC)
- @Cat-five: I removed it based on MOS:INITIALS, specifically the H. P. Lovecraft example. —Jonny Nixon (talk) 04:15, 1 November 2021 (UTC)
- Yeah, it's pretty obvious what the relationship between "H. Jon Benjamin" and "Harry Jon Benjamin" is. However, the body of the article is confusing about what his legal name is, with that "thought to be", "writes that his first name is", and "allegedly initially added" phrasing. If we don't know for sure what his legal first name is, we shouldn't state it in the lede, and if we do, we should cut that weasel phrasing out of the "Personal life" section. -Jason A. Quest (talk) 04:58, 1 November 2021 (UTC)
- OK, in the one video he says it isn't "Henry", but we don't need to say what it isn't. I found the relevant passage from his memoir thru Google Books, and (contrary to the way it's written here) there's no suggestion that he's joking or telling tall tales: he just states that it's "Harry" and even explains where it came from. I'm going to rewrite that section. -Jason A. Quest (talk) 16:08, 1 November 2021 (UTC)

- Fair enough, I won't change it again, since that was a damn good example. Not for nothing, but MOS:Initials does contradict itself a couple of times though, and seems to be inconsistent even with its examples (see k.d. lang vs CCH Pounder). Thank you for rewriting the intro though, it overall makes more sense now, not just on the issue of the name. Cat-fivetc ---- 04:38, 2 November 2021 (UTC)
