editDoes anyone feel the recent edits by User:George best77 are in any way an improvement? Some of the information introduced is incorrect, some of it is just a mess. --Michig (talk) 17:32, 9 August 2011 (UTC)
Origin again
editManchester or Timperley, Altrincham, Cheshire? Please discuss here to reach a consensus. Thanks.--Michig (talk) 18:24, 1 February 2012 (UTC)
Please note the guidance from the infobox template:
The city from which the singer or group originated (that is, the city where the group was founded; or the city where individual performers started their career, should it not match the location of their birth). If the city is not known, specify at least the country.

There are several references that confirm he grew up in Lymm, Warrington until the age of 5 and then moved with his family to Altrincham where he attended Altrincham Boys Grammar School with John Squire. It's no secret where Ian Brown is from - it's well documented. Altrincham is a town, which includes areas such as Timperley and Broadheath, over 7 miles south of Manchester and has a Warrington postcode. It's like claiming someone from Croydon is from London.

- Emaphasis should be on the city where individual performers started their career, should it not match the location of their birth - this field is not for where the subject grew up or is 'from'. Did he start his career in Altrincham or Manchester?--Michig (talk) 18:14, 4 February 2012 (UTC)
Timperley is in the borough of Trafford part of Manchester Brown started his career while living in Hulme as documented in linked books Chorlton Withington and Wythenshawe Manchester — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.217.72.16 (talk) 23:43, 14 March 2012 (UTC)
Legal Problems - Air Rage
editI know that Ian Brown is a genius, and a hero for millions, so this is contentious.
But as it's true, and part of his life, why shouldn't a biographical article mention it?
The question for me isn't whether the Air rage incident from 1998 should be included, but HOW?
Any suggestions? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Our Man In Bananas (talk • contribs) 21:45, 24 May 2012 (UTC)
From Altrincham
editI notice a user repeatedly removes any/all references to Altrincham in this article. They appaear to stalk this page 24/7 to push the POV that Altrincham is a part of Manchester.
Here are some simple facts: Timperley is an area of Altrincham. It isn't an area of Manchester - it is currently in the county of Greater Manchester, which is a completely different entity. Altrincham was also in Cheshire when Ian Brown was growing up and still considered by most inhabitants today.

Testified on Sexual Assault
editIt has been widely reported (by reliable sources) that Brown has testified against his former teacher. Him testifying has even been mentioned in the Fred Talbot article so I don't think this is gossip or "title tattle" and has been given due weight in the personal life section. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 21:43, 14 September 2018 (UTC)
- I agree. The user who kept trying to remove it said in one edit summary "stop trying to rubbish the man". Not clear if Talbot, who has been convicted, is being referred to here, or Brown. If Brown it's not clear how a mention of this matter in any way rubbishes him. I favour keeping mention of the testimony in the last few years in the passage about Brown's schooling because it relates to his schooling. That seems to be where we have ended up, so let's hope the user who keeps removing it has now given up, or will come forward here to present some valid reasons for moving or removing the information.
