edit1. There is no such a thing called "House of the Nation" in Bangladesh. 2. "Jatiya Sangsad" translates to "National Assembly" or "National Parliament." The building that is named "Jatiya Sangsad" is locally called "National Parliament" in English. 3. Bangladesh has never had an "upper house" or a "lower house." The parliament has always been a unicameral one.
This article should be removed. It does not validate with facts on the ground.
What is "bangladesh people's league"?!? never heard of such a thing --ppm 18:27, 22 February 2006 (UTC)
- This stems from an overly enthusiastic translation at the template. Neither Bangladesh Election Comission, nor the parties themselve, use this type of names. I edited the template back to proper English names of the parties. Thanks. --Ragib 23:17, 22 February 2006 (UTC)
Dates
editPlease can someone add the dates to the table of parliaments. Thanks. Wanderer57 (talk) 05:58, 2 December 2011 (UTC)
- Dates of the parliamentary elections can be found by following the link of the respective legislature. As for the tenure, that bit I can't find on the Internet. Ratibgreat (talk) 11:07, 2 December 2011 (UTC)

The result of the move request was: no consensus; RS usage does not seem to suggest an error in transliteration. Miniapolis 21:34, 28 June 2013 (UTC)
Jatiyo Sangshad → Jatiyo Shangshad – ″Sangshad″ is a wrong transliteration of bengali ″সংসদ″. [[1]] --Relisted. -- tariqabjotu 15:43, 28 June 2013 (UTC) Samudrakula (talk) 20:59, 9 June 2013 (UTC)
- Oppose. You should give some evidence for the 'right' transliteration and also why it should be applied here. Given that [2] (the second reference, the parliament website) uses 'sangsad', that the article itself transliterates it differently, I don't think there is enough evidence so far to justify any move. Imc (talk) 06:42, 12 June 2013 (UTC)
- Bengali Shangshad is Loanword form Sanskrit Sansad. According to rules of Bangla Academy, every loanword must be write in Bengali alphabet ″স″ (English transliteration ″sha″)!
- What do the rules of the Bangla Academy have to do with Wikipedia? Imc (talk) 17:17, 12 June 2013 (UTC)

Sanskrit Sansad and Bengali Shangshad' are same word with different pronunciations and different writing system!

Jatiyo Sangshad → Jatiya Sangsad – Proper Transliteration or endonym , see Romanisation of Bengali. "স" is "S", "শ" is "Sh" and য় is "Ẏa" so Bengali: জাতীয় সংসদ should be Jatiya Sangsad. Almost all of the working sources in the article refer to as "Jatiya Sangsad", with only one exception. see:

- Closing comment: I checked with Google too... 6,280 ghits for the former name, 109,000 for the new name (and 83,800 for the other name that I first moved to in error... fixed now I think). So while the rationale given by nom might not be bulletproof, I'm confident that the new name is the English common name. Andrewa (talk) 01:26, 9 March 2017 (UTC)
