I looked on a map and right next to the island it says KUSAIE what is that all about? No where in the article did it mention the word KUSAIE. Did the island used to be called this? The preceding unsigned comment was added by 153.26.176.34 (talk • contribs) .

Google results for both words suggest they may be the same place. --Scott Davis Talk 23:29, 30 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

They are the same place. The Japanese colonized the island of the FSM and a lot of their names have changed. Ponape-Pohnpei Truk-Chuuk Kusaie-Kosrae etc —Preceding unsigned comment added by 131.252.253.227 (talkcontribs)

I lived on Kosrae just after it changed its name to Kosrae. The first pronunciation listed is correct. The second is incorrect and is due to non-natives trying to phonetically sound out the name. The pronunciation is KO (long O) - SHI (long I). See the Kusaiean-English Dictionary by Kee-dong Lee, Published 1976 ISBN 0-8248-0413-9 or Kusaiean Reference Grammar ISBN 0-8248-0355-8.

The "SR" is derived from a new spelling system created by the Kusaiean Orthography Committee in 1973. SR is pronounced "sh."

My native name was Sru and is pronounce Shoe. Mendehj (talk) 17:30, 19 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

The question isn't how the name is pronounced in Kosraean, but how it's pronounced in English. If more than one pronunciation is used, then we should list all of them. If you want the Kosraean, then that should be added as Kosraean, not as English. kwami (talk) 11:20, 3 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
