Hop farming
editCan anyone provide more details about the loss of the hop industry to expand the article?. The area is full of oast houses, and Beard'S Farms Ltd was one of the main employers. I seem to remember that the hops passed to Guinness Hop farms at some stage.--Kudpung (talk) 02:20, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
- I have lived in the hop growing area since 1968 and in the Teme Valley, including Leigh, oast houses were always called hop kilns. I stopped visiting the local farms in 1972 when I changed careers.--DonBarton (talk) 22:53, 11 May 2014 (UTC)
