Vietnam war in Television

edit

Someone should make a 'Vietnam War in Television' companion article. 71.190.246.97 (talk) 21:22, 18 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

How come? Tour of Duty. China Beach. Gomer Pyle pretended there was no war.
Ten Thousand Day War and Vietnam: A Television History, derived from Karnow's book, on the documentary side.
Is there more? That list does not have the makings of a separate page. Varlaam (talk) 18:33, 27 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Vietnamese Films?

edit

It would be interesting to see vietnamese films about the war mentioned, or just generally some non anglo viewpoints if those exist. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.151.177.135 (talk) 03:27, 9 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

When I was in Vietnam years ago, I visited what still remained of the Hanoi Hilton. I didn't see any movies around, just bootlegged copies of Bao Ninh's novel in English.
I have now added a partially Vietnamese Vietnam War film, available on Russian DVD. First one I have come across.

Is Port of Shadows the first film featuring at Vietnam vet?

edit

Is Marcel Carné's Port of Shadows the first film featuring a Vietnam vet? Jean Gabin plays a character who has been involved in fighting at Tonkin, presumably at the Yen Bai mutiny. Should this be added at the top of the list? --Evenmadderjon (talk) 15:51, 7 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Should films about the First Indochina War be in this article?

edit

I'm thinking about removing them. What say you?--Sus scrofa (talk) 10:57, 22 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Consensus of one I guess.--Sus scrofa (talk) 17:53, 2 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Re: Mills of the Gods: Viet Nam

edit

Source for the description is the film itself, I believe that is OK? --Sus scrofa (talk) 15:11, 1 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Looks like personal opinion to me. Source needed. - FlightTime (open channel) 15:14, 1 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Not a problem :) --Sus scrofa (talk) 16:33, 1 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

New Categorization

edit

I would like to make new categories for the Vietnam War in film section. It will be clearer to distinguish the different genres of the Vietnam War films.

"Theatrical films about the Vietnam War" "Theatrical films about the Vietnam War POWs" "Theatrical films about the Anti-Vietnam War movement" "Theatrical films about the Indochina refugee crisis" "Theatrical films about Vietnam War veterans" "Theatrical films about the Vietnam War MIAs" "Television films about Vietnam War veterans" "Television films about Vietnam War veterans"

What do you think ?

I'm on board with the changes you've made to this article so far. I think it's good to distinguish between the different types of Vietnam War films. --Sus scrofa (talk) 16:53, 1 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Vietnamese films

edit

According to [ https://www.nytimes.com/1999/05/12/world/apocalypse-then-vietnam-marketing-war-films.html Apocalypse Then: Vietnam Marketing War Films], lots of Vietnamese documentary films were made marketed through Progress Film-Verleih GmbH, the successor company to East German DEFA. --Error (talk) 01:00, 8 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
