Talk:Maging Sino Ka Man (2006 TV series)

Image in the Infobox

edit

I think that the old image for Maging Sino Ka Man's infobox is better than the new one, because the new one is just a publicity photo for the four lead actors -- it's not actually the show title, and it does not even show the actors in character.

Old image: 220px

New image: 220px

The best image for the infobox is probably the show's title screen or logo. I'll see if I can add that later. CFan 01:45, 27 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Merge

edit

I have suggested that the two pages be merged because the other page is just an extension of the main storyline. As per Wikipedia:Merge, it satisfies two categories:

  • There are two or more pages on related subjects that have a large overlap.
  • If a short article requires the background material or context from a broader article in order for readers to understand it.

All editors please take a look, and add your ideas here. If there are no comments in 48 hours, I'll go ahead with the merge, and redirect Celine Magsaysay here.

Copy-paste and refactored whatever I could manage. Still working on making the merge smooth... xCentaur | 18:38, 6 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

I agree because this is a series with seasonal runs similar to Lost, etc. Magasin (talk) 18:08, 11 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Where should this go?

edit

Anyone who watches the program...where should this go?

The Past

edit

Celine had always been in love with JB Roxas-Berenguer. Back in her hometown Bacolod, the then 15-year old lass met JB, who was then vacationing with his mother Dona Corazon. JB was by the beachside mourning the death of his father, who died of a heart attack when he was five and when they were sailing. Celine befriends him and a puppy love soon ensued.

Corazon later knew of the relationship and told JB she didn't mind the relationship because sge thought it was just sort of a "play". Corazon hates Imelda, Celine's mother, for reasons believed to be becaused she (Imelda) was a bastard and a slut. (Imelda is Fidel's sister. They have the same mother.) She believes that Celine was gonna be a slut too. "Kung ano ang puno yun ang bunga." And also because Imelda always teases Corazon of never getting Fidel to fall in love with her.

JB goes back to Manila and meets Jackie. Upon the prodding of Corazon, JB falls for Jackie and soon become boyfriend-girlfriend.

On Jackie's 18th birthday, Celine, who is Jackie's cousin and to whom she is very close to, goes to Manila and learns that JB is already in a relationship with Jackie. This is when she begins to become a playgirl and a slut.

She keeps a scrapbook of important events in her life, mostly involving JB, whom she is head over heels in love with.

I think this should be on Celine Magsaysay page, since mostly is about her. Mikomouse 14:35, 7 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
That page has been merged into this one now. Also, I think most of this can be edited out and shortened to just a few lines, because all the "events" mentioned have already been added to different parts of the plot summary. Miko, any idea how we could shorten the plot on the main page? Its pretty huge, and its not very clear whats important and whats not...Any thoughts on this? xCentaur | 05:55, 8 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
Well I think that we should just mixed this anywhere it's appropriate.Mikomouse 14:35, 11 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Cleanup?

edit

I just noted after adding in all the info from Celine Magsaysay, the page is heavily cluttered. Also, the page List_of_Maging_Sino_Ka_Man_episodes has the entire plot, as well as individual stories of each episode. I was wondering, is it neccessary to have a plot section on this page when we have a seperate page dedicated to the same? xCentaur | 09:00, 7 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

I agree that the plot section on this page can and should be significantly reduced to perhaps four or five paragraphs. I'll be happy to rewrite it once the show finishes its run. Since the plot is still unfolding, I find it difficult to condense the write-up -- it's too hard at this point to know what's important and what's not. CFan 14:35, 7 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
I know what you mean, its hard to figure out myself. Cheers Cfan, happy editing!

Photos for deletion

edit

They're at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion/2007 February 11#Batch nomination: Maria Flordeluna and Maging Sino Ka Man photos. --Howard the Duck 15:52, 11 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Is there really no way that these cast photos can remain? Only the main cast members have photos. Actors who are listed as "also starring" do not have associated images. CFan 10:14, 12 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
Follow what Smallville did: have group cast photo. You people dig a lot of pics so it's not that hard. If you still oppose, open the discussion on the deletion page. --Howard the Duck 10:27, 12 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the reply. I guess this means that all the pretty screencaps in List of Heroes episodes won't be there much longer either. CFan 12:58, 12 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
Actually, for the "list of <xx> episodes" (in which this article isn't one), there is contentious issue on whether each and every episode should have a screencap. The "description" on the episode must be about the screencap per se, or else it won't be fair use.
In this case, this is the main page of a TV series; not everyone gets to have single pic, especially there are some in the cast whoch don't have (and probably won't) have articles yet. I suggest a group pic. It's not that hard anyway, you guys have lots of sources. --Howard the Duck 08:08, 13 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

I suppose all these photos of each of the characters should be changed to just one photo of the four main characters (Jackie, Eli, Celine and JB) since they are the main cast of the TV series. Or the other individual photos are just supporting roles anyway. 138.130.175.240 13:00, 19 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

For once, I'd agree with Mr./Ms. anon. --Howard the Duck 14:41, 22 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Too Loose

edit

I am concerned at how the Plot part is written informally, extensively to the most minute details, and without Neutral Point of View, particularly the last part where the writer says, "we are all craving for its ending." Such statements are reserved for fan discussions. Wikipedia isn't a place for that.

Here are some other things that bother me are:

1. The Pilot Episode, which is a 1 and a half hours long (advertisement air time included) is written as long as a whole story arc (several episodes long) summary.

2. Parts 1, 2, and 3 are followed by an italic description of its timeline--when it could have been placed in the same paragraph--while parts 4 onwards don't have such awkward italic timeline descriptions.

3. The Plot Thickens, isn't that an off title for a story arc? Since the story arc titles here are not explicitly mentioned in the story, I think, we choose solid and good story arc titles. Another story arc title that bothers me is Close to the End. How sure is the writer that it is really close to the end, what if ABS decides to extend some more? Also, the title The new, rich Eli is a bit lame when we could have, The Resurfacing Gabriel Roxas or simply Gabriel Roxas, the new, rich Eli.

I think this whole article can be improved, not only the plot part. With all respect to the writers, you did a good job collecting data, but let's present them properly. Let's keep things simple. Let's not miss the details, but let's also not exaggerate on providing them. Wikipedia is a place for information, not expressions of fandom. Let's keep it that way. I myself am a fan of the series, and I want to provide it with a good wikipedia article.

Why the Philippines weighs the Mega Manila ratings more rather than Nationally?

edit

Here in the states, it is all about the national avg rating. National newspapers and national news media do not even post or report metro-wide ratings and it is seldomly available even in the local level.

Book 2

edit

Should Book 2 have it's own article? Madapaka 16:21, 11 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

No it shouldn't. pikdig (talk) 03:08, 12 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:MSKM.jpg

edit

Image:MSKM.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
