When this was translated from French it may also have translated the names of the newpapers, but they are prpoper nouns and might expalin whey thy are redlinks. RJFJR (talk) 16:52, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

This text appears to be a translation of fr:Politique_sous_la_Restauration. The French version which was current when the English version appeared was [[1]], but that has major differences from the current English text. Certes (talk) 19:30, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

Change of article name, possible merger

I think this article's name is not accurate. I'm suggesting Politics of the Bourbon Restoration, which should be more similar to the French article Politique sous la Restauration, where this article is translated from.Wai Hong (talk) 10:40, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

That change would certainly give a useful clue that the article is about France! The authors in French WP probably thought this was obvious (though francophones in Belgium, Canada, etc. may disagree) but it's certainly not clear in the context of English WP. I would suggest the merge too as this article is unreferenced and doesn't really have a clear purpose as a separate article. Take a look at American revolution#Factions: Patriots, Loyalists and Neutrals for an example of what I think this article/section should be. The Restoration article should have a similar structure as the American revolution article with this article filling that corresponding revolution sections role. Also why does this article have to match fr:Partis politiques sous la Restauration? That article appears to have the same problems in this one and we don't need to keep an article just because a corresponding one exists on another wiki. -Optigan13 (talk) 23:10, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

Ok, I like the suggestion of merging this article with Bourbon Restoration like the American Revolution article. There are still some parts of this article that are incomprehensible and need to be cleaned-up before merging. I've done what I can but I hope someone with a better knowledge of French can refer to the original article in French wikipedia and clean up those sections.Wai Hong (talk) 10:11, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

I have cleaned up the rest of the article and done some major reorganisation such as combining the two subsections on Liberals. It looks very different but I've kept almost all the text Wai Hong cleaned up, and most of the rest is still there in some form. The page is still a work in progress rather than a candidate for WP:FA, so if anything is controversial please feel free to change it back. The inconclusive discussion about deleting this article was split between "delete" and "keep but rewrite". No one insisted on keeping the page in its current form, so I think we can be bold in completing the clean-up.
