Early comment
editThe 1st sentence "OpenStack is an IaaS cloud computing project by Rackspace Cloud and NASA" is wrong in at least a couple of ways:
a) It's not *by* Rackspace Cloud and NASA. It was founded by those two parties yes, though I think most of the press coverage only mentions Rackspace, oops.
The claim that OpenStack can be used with minimal porting effort (from AWS) is not substantiated by the reference to the OpenStack documentation. It is unclear whether OpenStack provides a completely compatible set of APIs or just a mostly compatible one, and whether it's compatible but incomplete or is a complete implementation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.123.3.246 (talk) 14:07, 8 April 2012 (UTC)
I gave a first shot at fixing the starting statement, as indeed the project has gone a long way since its initial release. I've added also references to the AWS/S3 API compatibility.
I am currently OpenStack Community Manager: I'm updating this page to contain latest information about OpenStack. Smaffulli (talk) 15:01, 7 January 2013 (UTC)
- The references to AWS/S3 and AWS/EC2 still don't support the claim of compatibility. If anything, they suggest the opposite. Numerous "not compatible" or "unknown" entries are listed in the linked matrices. Czetie (talk) 16:59, 18 August 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks for disclosing your conflict of interest. So far this is less promotional than other similar articles, and let us try to keep it that way. W Nowicki (talk) 23:49, 26 May 2013 (UTC)

- The main issue is that it needs to be kept neutral, and not a promotion of the subject of the article. So best would be finding independent sources. One example might be objective trade press that discusses pros and cons alike, or actual measurements of market share, etc.
- And a note to all editors: please beware of the Wikipedia policy on external links. In particular, avoid in-line promotional links to web sites. In the body, other relevant articles can be linked, and then one link added to "External links" section if it applies. W Nowicki (talk) 16:13, 12 July 2013 (UTC)
Distribution Section
editWith high-level assistance from Pradipta Banerjee at IBM I've drafted an OpenStack Distribution Matrix as a collapsible table to save real estate (seeing as the OpenStack Distrubtion market should continue to grow). I'd like to work this in directly to the Distribution Section to the OpenStack article here as it enlists all current Distributions and provides comparison. Please provide feedback/advice on the matrix and its potential for use here to further enhance the OpenStack article; thx in advance! JohnWooten (talk) 19:52, 8 January 2014 (UTC)
- Hello there! The table is looking good to me; though, I can't confirm the accuracy for all of the presented data. :) As a small suggestion, how about using standard
{{yes}}
,{{no}}
,{{dunno}}
and{{n/a}}
templates instead of blue circles with question marks, and those smilies? :) Also, having plain backgrounds for table cells is preferred, unless there's a legend clarifying the actual color-coding. Hope that helps. — Dsimic (talk) 21:29, 8 January 2014 (UTC)
Security
editNeed a section on security concerns. Also a generic concerns/criticisms sections would be helpful. N0w8st8s (talk) 06:54, 30 December 2014 (UTC)n0w8st8s
picture
editWhat does the picture of a satellite dish(?) have to do with NASA's Nebula? The Nebula article doesn't clarify this, afaict. Mcswell (talk) 21:41, 11 June 2019 (UTC)
Releases
editAdded Mitaka as the M release of OpenStack. The tabe is not displaying the Mitaka row correctly. Require formatting help from someone who knows better. Vivekvc (talk) 10:48, 16 July 2015 (UTC)

editAttardi (talk) 14:00, 29 August 2018 (UTC) Where does the abbreviation O~S come from? According to OpenStack itself, OpenStack is a trademark and should bot be shortened.
