Need update for v2.0
editA new version of Open Clip Art Library was recently link released. The article could use a good updating! - Spike the Dingo (talk) 22:00, 10 March 2010 (UTC)

Where did it go?!
edit[On December 25, 2019 the site has this headline: "đ Openclipart Gifted to the Community. Donate to Support Development. đ" and it is possible for former contributors to log in with their credentials. There is a link for those who were tagged as "Librarian"s to access an IRC chat to discuss the future. There is also a link for contributing new clipart which seems to work unless there is a name conflict with an existing image. The form is different from the old site. According to rejon via the IRC channel on 2019-12-26,"Goal to get things working before inkscape 1.0." which is in beta2 as of this date.] Algotruneman (talk) 13:25, 27 December 2019 (UTC)
Oh, no! Has anyone found the Open Clip Art Library lately? Now it redirects to freedesktop.org, with nothing but a question about it on freedesktop's Software Page. Does anyone know what happened? Openclipart.org was really doing well, and it was great to have an open clipart site without restrictions or huge banners for the massive pay-per-use clipart sites. So sad. :-(

- This is being discussed on the OCAL mailing list. Apparently, it was shut down because of the amount of bandwidth being used, which was caused by someone trying to download the packages every few seconds. So it should be back again once this is sorted out. --Zundark 09:14, 28 February 2006 (UTC)
Should be something about the apparent extended reorganization (or whatever it is), which has resulted in no official new release in over a year now (October 17th, 2005)... AnonMoos 03:53, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
www.openclipart.org down
editThe site currently responds with the message "You've come to gabe.freedesktop.org. Maybe you were looking for www.freedesktop.org. If this is the case, please ask whoever sent you here to update their URLs." Presumably (judging from the above comments) it has been this way for several months at least. --ozzmosis 07:48, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
- No, only about two weeks - it's not the same problem as above. It will hopefully be up again this week, running on a new server. --Zundark 08:19, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
- Ought we not add something to the article stating that it is currently offline? I will do so if there are no objections. User:Arawn
Intro Too long! Encourage anyone to fix it, but I'll try to remember to come back to it myself. -- Horkana (talk) 15:36, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

Is the site commercial?
editThe site is marked as "Commercial? Yes". Can anyone, please, support this claim by a link? FDominec (talk) 21:08, 15 December 2015 (UTC)
External links modified
editHello fellow Wikipedians,
I have just added archive links to 5 external links on Openclipart. Please take a moment to review my edit. You may add {{cbignore}}
after the link to keep me from modifying it, if I keep adding bad data, but formatting bugs should be reported instead. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}}
to keep me off the page altogether, but should be used as a last resort. I made the following changes:
- Attempted to fix sourcing for http://rejon.org/media/writings/ocalintro/ocal_intro_phillips.html?PHP
- Attempted to fix sourcing for http://www.gnomedesktop.org/article.php?sid=1421&mode=&order=0&thold=1
- Attempted to fix sourcing for http://rejon.org/2010/03/open-clip-art-library-2-0-is-here/

When you have finished reviewing my changes, please set the checked parameter below to true or failed to let others know (documentation at {{Sourcecheck}}
).

ccHost
editthe page refers to "ccHost" a few times without any explanation what that is. if the reference is significant enough, it should be explained. it's extra confusing as the very first mention of "ccHost" already calls it "old". --Richlv (talk) 02:42, 30 January 2018 (UTC)
- Added link to ccHost Chengsi258 (talk) 04:00, 30 January 2018 (UTC)
- thanks, that makes it much less obscure :) --Richlv (talk) 18:25, 30 January 2018 (UTC)
Under Maintenance
edit... for weeks. Project seems dead? -- 46.80.30.153 (talk) 11:32, 1 May 2019 (UTC)
- It was apparently still functioning on 17 April (archive link). I think it's a bit too early to assume that the project is dead. --Zundark (talk) 12:04, 1 May 2019 (UTC)
- Twitter account @openclipart indicated on 3rd of May 2019 that the site is victim of DDOS attack and has been put offline to prevent damage to the clipart database. it should have been up again a few days later, but is still not today (may 17th 2019). Baldodo (talk) 14:44, 17 May 2019 (UTC)
- On June 12th the @openclipart twitter account declared that the the @openclipart account control was regained, suggesting a social media account hijacking: (twitter post).
- It seems that the account @openclipart indicated on the 15th of June 2019 that some testing is going on with "key stakeholders", suggesting that the project is soon to come back online (twitter post). â Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.232.178.168 (talk) 09:41, 15 June 2019 (UTC)
- A lot of people are starting to get suspicious (ex. from a Google search I found this). Others (ex. here) point out that the DDOS story seems a bit less than plausible given that it has been (by now, but at the time of their writing, two) four months since the site went down. Drilling down into the replies of whoever runs the openclipart twitter handle reveals interactions like this one that seem a little bit odd, at best. Who knows what is going on. I'm not sure how best to put that into the page, but it seems like something should be acknowledged. 45.47.54.101 (talk) 19:08, 21 August 2019 (UTC)
- The direct download links of the files are still working, e.g. [1] --80.88.24.177 (talk) 14:40, 28 August 2019 (UTC)
Looks like it's up again, but limited. You can upload, download and browse, but not search. // Liftarn (talk) 10:36, 18 January 2020 (UTC)
- OK, now search is back. // Liftarn (talk) 15:54, 26 January 2020 (UTC)
