In order to comply with WP standards and guidelines, much work is needed here. The two main issues are those of notability and of the sources cited. Much of the listings of non-notable persons and events fall under "list cruft". And most of the sources cited are primary, rather than the expected neutral, reliable and notable secondary sources that WP expects. I would rather give the opportunity for others who have an interest in the article's content to try to Wikify it, but if that doesn't happen within a reasonable span of time, I will just go through and edit as necessary to bring it into compliance. I had previously worked on this article—enough to convince me that it meets notability. Newspaper articles are allowable sources in Wikipedia. Although usually considered primary, there are times when newspaper articles can be considered secondary, especially when providing more than facts or opinions. In this case, it seems like some of these sources are features, more like a magazine article than a news report. These certainly would count toward notability. The list of non-notable names that you mention is the group's founders. WikiProject Fraternities and Sororites has talked about whether or not to include founders; ultimately deciding to include them. (However, the WP does not include lists of officers, random chapter founders, or past presidents). I did not check to see if any of these founders have an article or would meet notability.
