What ? The progressives who run wikipedia have not yet added 'information' showing that lefevre was a nazi bent on enslaving the workers ? That's no good. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.191.41.51 (talk) 05:28, 11 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

I added that LeFevre did not consider himself an anarchist and claimed not to be, because the implication of what was already stated was that he simply wished to use a different term. He in fact refused the notion that he was an anarchist. I, for one, think his commentaries make him sound anarchist, however.

Rampart College

edit

Any clearer info on the end of Rampart College/Freedom School? I got his "Fundamentals of Liberty", which indicate the two were moved to California in 1965 after a flood devestated the Colorado campus, and that LeFevre stepped down as President of Rampart College in 1973, which is after the 1968 'ending' of the schools. Also, it appears that Rampart Institute still existes, and during the 80s was still publishing. --Emb021 (talk) 13:42, 14 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Did Charles Koch graduate from Freedom School?

edit

Was Charles Koch a graduate of Freedom School? He is listed as one of the "notable graduates". He's notable of course, but his page on the wikipedia says that all his training was at MIT. Maybe he just financed Freedom School? I don't want to edit the article myself because i'm not familiar enough with either Koch or LeFevre to know the answer for sure, but somebody in the know please resolve the discrepancy here. (Or maybe i'm not reading this just right?) Son of eugene (talk) 15:20, 18 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Can LeFevre speak for himself?

edit

I notice the only quotes in the section on pacifism come, not from LeFevre himself, but from Brian Doherty's "freewheeling history". They are quite sarcastic in tone, and there is no reason to suspect they are an accurate portrayal of LeFevre's views. (Did LeFevre actually say that it would be a violation of property rights to destroy a kidnapper's bonds? Or is that just Doherty's caricature of LeFevre's position?) As it is, this section contains much about Doherty's opinion of LeFevre's pacifism, and nothing about LeFevre's actual views. I suggest the section be removed unless someone can provide us with quotes from LeFevre himself, or at the very least find a more objective secondary source. Yet another total whitewash

edit

This article is another total whitewash of history, that attempts to elevate a known grifter and con man to the status of a philosopher and economist. Viriditas (talk) 21:48, 1 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

You got any sources to back that up? Kylenielsen (talk) 06:56, 30 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
Furthermore, some of your criticisms are false. The girl scout stuff involved Langston Hughes' involvement with communism.

The association with Right is more focused on a friendship he made with someone he met fighting communism more than actual 100% ideological support.

Furthermore, Lefevre condemned lynchings.

NPOV tag

edit

I’ve added the NPOV tag since it avoids mentioning every major criticism of LeFevre in the literature. Viriditas (talk) 21:52, 1 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

  • LeFevre had a long history of racism against black people in America
    • Against desegregation of schools and supported 1956 efforts by the state of Virginia to oppose it
    • Freedom School was "whites only” and many members were overt segregationists
    • Foreign policy positions were conspiracy theories
      • Many of the most popular WWII conspiracy theories about the US entry to that war began with associates of the Freedom School.
  • LeFavre’s version of revisionist American history has been compared to the Lost Cause of the Confederacy
  • LeFavre criticized the Girl Scouts for inter-race relations
  • LeFavre railed against the Universal Declaration of Human Rights
  • LeFavre endorsed noted Holocaust denier Willis Carto’s antisemitic publication Right
