Incomplete history? I think not

edit

I removed the incomplete history tag because strictly speaking the history isn't incomplete. Much of it can be found in Smooth Radio (2010), which is a comprehensive background to this station. I have no objection to the refimprove tag, though I'd argue much of what's been added to this article would be difficult to source. I took the article on the 2010 version of Smooth Radio through GAN, and had a notion that once the changes occurred there'd be a raft of edits to Smooth Radio related content by people wishing to update the status quo, but with little regard to the original article. Consequently I moved the original to protect it from deterioration. This is Paul (talk) 16:07, 13 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Page move

edit

I see that this page has been moved by a editor blocked for page move disruption. Please can a subject expert either revert the move or assist with the clean-up of the incoming wikilinks? (Smooth Radio currently has 753 bad links, compared with 87 for the next worst offender.) Thanks, Certes (talk) 00:46, 6 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Certes: The new article and move were proposed in February 2021 at Talk:Smooth Radio (2010)#Possible article split by an editor in good standing, another member of the 100,000 club. I see no reason to revert the move. Links to the DAB page currently stand at 145.

Ah, thank you. The split resulted in Smooth Radio (2010) and Smooth Radio, with the latter being moved later to Smooth Radio (2012) and then Smooth Radio (2014). I was questioning this move without understanding the wider picture. I hadn't noticed This is Paul's involvement, and certainly didn't meant to imply that they had done anything wrong. We're now down to about 200 links and I'll see how many more I can fix, though some seem vague and might refer to either or both of the stations. Certes (talk) 10:35, 9 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the ping. I moved the original Smooth Radio to Smooth Radio (2010) back in 2014 after the station changed its format from being a national to a quasi-local service. At the time I'd recently taken the 2010 version through GA and people had started to make edits to the page reflecting the on air change, and these were going to degrade the article's quality. So having a new article for the new station seemed like a sensible idea. I've not edited this particular page for some time so can't comment on the number of DAB links. My original version of it was quite basic. I wouldn't have personally moved it to its current title, but I've no objection if that's what people think is sensible. However, I note the editor who moved this page to Smooth Radio (2012) has been indef blocked so moving it back to Smooth Radio is what we should probably do. The sample of links I fixed were split 50/50 between the 2010 and 2014 articles. That may suggest that there's no primary topic and we should leave the articles at their current titles. That matches the February decision, though its emphasis was on the merits of splitting rather than the precise titles. On the other hand, if the current station is a PT then reverting the recent move may be in order. Does anyone else have a view on which is better? My inclination is to leave the dab at the base name but I'm not a subject expert. Certes (talk) 20:32, 9 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
We're now down to a handful of unresolved links. Thanks to everyone who helped out. The last few stubborn cases are here. Certes (talk) 11:26, 10 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Smooth Extra

edit

I am considering removing Smooth Extra from the sister stations section in the infobox, since it no longer exists and is actually mentioned, and explained, further down in the article. Does anyone have any objections to this? (Eg do we keep defunct stations in that section always?) Blanchey (talk) 09:04, 26 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
