Any word on the proposal to merge all of the county's municipal police forces into one unified, countywide police department? -98.221.141.21 (talk) 08:52, 5 June 2012 (UTC)Reply

Wondering how to edit this U.S. County Entry?
The WikiProject U.S. Counties standards might help.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Rambot (talkcontribs) 14:27, 27 July 2003 (UTC)Reply

The median income numbers shown in this article are inconsistent with the US Census press release found here: http://www.census.gov/Press-Release/www/releases/archives/income_wealth/002484.html. Maybe someone should try and reconcile.--24.225.187.210 14:30, 8 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for File:County Seal Somerset.jpg

edit

File:County Seal Somerset.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 21:20, 2 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Municipalities

edit

In the Municipalities section of this article there is a map. In the map are a bunch of numbers. Either erase the numbers (it is easy to do) or add the numbers to the list of municipalities to the left. As it stands now, it is very annoying. - 4.240.159.188 (talk) 07:04, 8 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Municipalities

edit

Many of the unincorporated communities have had "non-CDP", in bold, added next to them. Aside from being unsightly, does anyone feel readers of the article care if it's CDP or non-CDP? They can go to the individual article and read whether they are CDP or not. It's like listing "has more that 1000 people" or "George Washington slept here". The article also says, without any source, that "most of these areas are census-designated places". It actually appears that most are not. Should this cruft be removed? Thanks! Per this source, a census-designated place is "recognized and used in daily communication by the residents of the community" with boundaries mapped based on the geographic extent associated with residents' use of the place name. Unlike place names listed arbitrarily by GNIS as one-dimensional points with little or no meaningful data about the place beyond latitude / longitude and altitude, CDPs are federally recognized areas for which meaningful demographic and statistical data is available. Most of the places are in fact CDPs, though here and elsewhere it would be far more helpful to identify CDPs (rather than non-CDPs), as these are places that are far more likely to have useful current information for place names that are widely accepted and recognized by those in the area as forming a cohesive modern-day community. How about you copy the picture link to right here, so we can see what you're talking about. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots20:01, 5 February 2018 (UTC)Reply
why don't you look for it where i suggested? Then you'll know it's where i said it was. And Im not young and im not good at this computer linking stuff.2602:306:CFC8:DDB0:B9DC:A0BC:EEF0:31A4 (talk) 20:34, 5 February 2018 (UTC)Reply
I only see two pics in the article [shown here now], and nothing to scroll through. If you're talking about the pictures over at Commons, you would need to take your complaint there, although I'm not seeing it there either. Can you tell me the specific file name of the picture? Then I might be able to track it down. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots20:44, 5 February 2018 (UTC)Reply
I appreciate your checking, but you didn't scroll far enough. It is the last photo, right after the one with the train in the snow.2602:306:CFC8:DDB0:A03E:BA7:5E6:3345 (talk) 22:13, 5 February 2018 (UTC)Reply
I opened the entire article in edit mode. There are only two picture files in it, the ones I re-posted here. If you hover over the one you're seeing, you should be able to see the file name somewhere in your browser. Do that, tell me the file name, and I'll see what I can figure out. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots22:33, 5 February 2018 (UTC)Reply
File:Freiheitsstatue NYC full.jpg::...don't understand why I see it and you don't. oh well.2602:306:CFC8:DDB0:A03E:BA7:5E6:3345 (talk) 03:29, 6 February 2018 (UTC)Reply
The file page[1] does indeed say that the file is in use on this page. Yet when I open the page in edit mode, I cannot find "Freiheitsstatue". I'm going to take this question to the ref desk and see if anyone has any ideas. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots03:37, 6 February 2018 (UTC)Reply
OK, I've got a partial answer: It turns out that the statue picture is embedded in Template:New York metropolitan area. But I can only see it if I un-hide the template. Do you have a preference setting where you automatically un-hide templates when you arrive at a page? ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots04:00, 6 February 2018 (UTC)Reply
At the misc ref desk, there are some ideas emerging. Maybe you could go there and comment? ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots11:43, 6 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Simpler names for townships

Should these be applied to the municipalities section for townships? ThatOneJerseyDude (talk) 13:24, 3 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Too Bad The Map Doesn't Work

edit

it's too bad that the allegedly interactive map doesn't actually work. It certainly doesn't work at all on Smartphones. I have to test it out on a laptop and desktop. Stevenmitchell (talk) 11:03, 11 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
