1st deletion debate, October 2004

edit

On 20 October 2004, this article was nominated for deletion. The result was ambiguous. A majority favored deletion however the discussion did not reach a clear consensus. By default, the article is kept. However, all the keep votes were qualified votes and included strong recommendations that the content of this article would be better covered as a section in a larger article such as Wing Commander ships. After the content is moved into the larger article, this article should be converted to a redirect. A record of the debate can be found at Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/TCS Victory. Considering the huge number and collective size of the articles in Category:Wing Commander spacecraft, I suspect this is an impractical policy to actually implement. Bryan 08:16, 26 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Agreed with Bryan. This was in fact my first article on Wikipedia and it was nominated for deletion about an hour after its creation. This was i my opinion a bit drastic considering that there are a lot of articles about far more minor ships in the Wing Commander universe. Although most of the votes were delete (arguing fancruft or similar), it survived the vote by not reaching the two thirds majority for deletion. Many seem to have voted merge (but thankyou to for not voting delete) without checking the size of the category. Maybe they would have voted keep had they seen this. However, if merging is desperately needed, merging this into a Wing Commander carriers article might be a more sensible undertaking. 129.177.61.124 08:52, 23 Dec 2004 (UTC)
