I think it should be deleted as we don't know the title of the movie, and if there will be any other persons involved in the project. Just because 20th Century Fox owns the rights to make the movie there is no guarantee that it will be made anytime soon. Sillygostly 06:49, 26 May 2007 (UTC)

There have been many films that have been untitled, or changed in post-production, The title is irrelevant, There is an encyclopedic reason for this article, It is the highest selling computer game of all time, the rights being sold to 20th Century Fox is a major milestone in the franchise history, A writer and producer have been attached. Merge to The Sims#Film

There is no guarantee that this film will be made, so I believe that it is appropriate, with the minimal content available, to merge and redirect this article. Studios often acquire feature film rights to materials but do not immediately place the projects into production. I feel that this article should not be merged, as it is not closely enough related to the game (for it to share the same article), save for the name. Not to mention that some of the crew has already been confirmed. --C. Raleigh 20:49, 27 May 2007 (UTC)

I don't believe that's a reasonable judgment call at this point, since it cannot be determined how closely this potential film adaptation will relate to the game itself. In addition, it's not a matter of similarity in the content; it's a matter of avoiding the creation of articles with minimal content when there is no indication that it will grow from there. When a film is announced, this does not guarantee it will be produced, but instead linger in development hell. If it does -- especially indicated by a director, a cast, and a production start date -- then the article can be expanded again. There's no certainty if there will be a film produced right away. Studios often buy feature film rights but do not fast-track projects into production.
