If I'm not mistaken, the first USS Hudson was named after the Hudson River, not William L. Hudson. At the time the Hudson was purchased for the United States Navy, frigates were named after rivers while ships of the line were named after states. Sarzonia (talk) 20:08, 7 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
