Doc's Death

Reverted back to older version. I can't find anything regarding Doc's cause of death. The original statement that the metal press references says that there are no further details. There is speculation that it was drug or alcohol related as those were the reasons he was removed from Vader. The only reference to AIDs I could find was a comment to a post on this web site, it seemed like flame bait to me and offered no edidence. I say we list no reason for his death until an official statement is released by the band or his family. This metalunderground.com comment is the only reference to AIDs I've been able to find. Reign Forever World

Is this a full CD or not? I put it in as one, but the official page lists it as a MCd, but it is quite long.HichamVanborm 02:23, 8 September 2006 (UTC)

It's not a full length. It's an EP. Most of the songs are reworkings of older songs and covers. Also, it has been issued with another EP (Blood) in the United States as one disc. If you have that version, it would seem pretty long. Aboverepine 16:13, 8 September 2006 (UTC)

Vader means father?

"vader" means father? This is new for me. Wikitionary says vader is father in dutch. I really don't think this is right. From what I've read in some interview the name comes from Darth Vader. But I'm not 100% sure.

I don't speak dutch, but i speak german, of which dutch is a very VERY close relative... the german word for Fathr is Vater, so i would not be at all surprised if "Vader" is Nederlands for "father"... perhaps Darth is a dialectal form of "Dark." AeturnalNarcosis (talk) 21:34, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

On other note - "Reborn in Chaos" is a compilation of old demos not a full album.

Vader *does* mean "father" in Dutch. What the origian of the band name is I'm not entirely sure , IIRC I read some interview where Peter said it came indeed from Darth Vader Spearhead 22:15, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

Vader is dutch for father. Darth Vader must mean "Dark father"...Why are we talking about Darth Vader and Dutch on a talk page about Vader, a Polish death/thrash band?

Neutrality

the biography section seems a little biased to me...

• "most successful demo of all time" ... and without a citation
• "equipment available behind the iron curtain."

I'm the one that removed a lot of the non-neutral pov from far back and I left it because it shows the notability of their demo/or didn't know what to do with it (#1 is from their bio) but #2 "equipment available behind the iron curtain." maybe pulling it a little. −₪ÇɨгcaғucɨҲ₪ ^kaiden 05:32, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

no offence intended.... unfortunately, i am not clever enough to properly reword it... just seemed a little one sided in 2 ways (interestingly enough): A) there's almost no information available about death metal bands' sales, so we have no real (statistical) way of telling how successful their demo was, nor do we have any statistical data of other death metal demos to which we can compare it, and B) the eastern block may have had similar quality sound production equipment to the western block, if not the exact same (i believe economic ties between the east and west were beginning to open up around the time their demo was recorded). that's all i'm getting at. edits, issues

I have edited out a bunch of the problems signaled on this talk page. Still, I think the article is, on the one hand, way too long (*listing* when all these albums were recorded and when they toured is little informative), and on the other, too short--there's hardly anything about personnel changes, or changes in style, or their record deals and popularity. Basically, the article originally was a long list of facts and some words of praise. Now it's mainly just a long list.

There's inconsistencies also, compared to the (separate) discography--for instance, how many demos before Morbid Reich? But that I will leave to those who know what they're talking about. Drmies (talk) 20:37, 9 November 2008 (UTC)

1983 or 1986?

When did Vader form? Before, the infobox and the line-up section said that they formed in 1983, but that has recently changed to 1986 by an anonymous user. Their official website says that they were initiated in 1986, but they're celebrating their 25th anniversary around this time as well, the release of their compilation album XXV signifying this. The official site might be incorrect and why would they release an album in 2008 celebrating their 25th anniversary? It looks as if 1983 is the correct year because of this. I think that I would believe that they formed in 1983, because it is possible for bands to have their first recorded material released several years after they formed. Just look at the band Dreamscape. They formed in 1986 and didn't have anything released until a 1993 demo. They focues on their technicality at first; that's what I've heard. And I've also heard that they started out as a thrash metal band. Ok, then that settles it, I'm inclined to change it to 1983 but before we do this, is there any source more reliable (not that it's even reliable but a respected metal site) than MA out there? Their official site may be wrong by chance. Most biographies are made by the press or some other source. If it were the band I think they would see it and have it changed but that's just what I think. Though if one of the band members (usually founder) manages their MySpace then we could ask them personally (but then again MySpace isn't reliable but it's most likely coming straight from a band member). Though this gets me thinking that they might have an interview somewhere that could end this. I'm thinking that tartareandesire.com counts as one but I could be wrong, though it was used as a reference in the folk metal article at the time it was being reviewed for GA and still is. The reviewer would of said something about it before he passed the article so I think it's ok. Even so, is this enough? Are there any more sources out there? Peter's role in the band

Peter played bass in 1983, then switched to guitars later the same year, and handled vocals in 1988. Here is a link of the band's official website stating these facts: [1].
