Someone should integrate the content of this page with the content of the Song Dynasty and History of China pages.

I have created an entire section in the History of the Song Dynasty article about Wang's chancellorship, and his followers' rivalry with later Sima Guang, with the two political camps of Reformists (that were led by Wang) and Conservatives (that were led by Sima).

Error and confusion in Objective

edit

The article makes a confusing declaration with the phrase "according to Wang..." The way it is used comes off almost as if it is quoting him directly rather than seeking to build a picture of his philosophy of governance with various references. It did partially confuse me initially as well (see: my edit notes where I only note Mary Nourse and don't comment directly on ChinaKnowledge.) I corrected part of the issue with Mary Nourse's writing.

I do think by splitting ChinaKnowledge's and Mary Nourse's descriptions however that this confusion is resolved.

Mary Nourse's utilization of present tense lended itself to far more potential confusion on its own. Whereas the utilization of past-tense in the ChinaKnowledge reference makes it fairly clear that the article isn't quoting Wang Anshi directly.

A bit of clean-up could be done but, as is, I believe any reasonable confusion that could be derived from this presentation is resolved. AyaKho (talk) 00:31, 11 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
