Just saw the trailer
editAm I the only one that is sick of hearing that Requiem for a Dream song that was in LOTR? -_- --Xtanstic 10:06, October 8, 2005 (EST)
- Yes. I mean, I mean, no. I think it's cool, but I DEFINITELY know what you mean. There's this other song with a guitar (idk the name) that goes DEH---DEH DEH DEH---DEH DEH DEH-----(high-pitched) Doo Doo doo-doo doo I kinda like the Zathura one though (what's it called?), but I know where you're coming from. --daunrealist 02:59, 1 November 2005 (UTC)
This is the page for the book, first of all. Second, this is not the place to critique the work - the discussion page is for discussing how to improve the article. Thanks. Chrisbrl88 (talk) 08:37, 20 April 2010 (UTC)
Rip-off
editThis totally looks like a rip-off of jumanji. I just looked at the jumanji page and it actually mentions this movie as being similar.
- whoops, maybe I should have read this page more carefully, Jumanji and Zathura are written by the same guy. I guess that means he didn't rip anyone off, just that he didn't have any more creative ideas. Oh well.
Thats what I thought when I first saw the trailer for the Movie as well. Does anyone know when this was written, out of curiosity? Priester 01:09, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
- Just watched the DVD and special features. When the writer/artist first created Jumanji back in 1982, he ended it with Walter and Danny finding the board game and "never finishing it" and that was it. People requested he do a sequel to Jumanji with more jungle fun, but he didn't want to do the same thing twice, so he challenged himself with finding a new way to tell Walter and Danny's story without jungles. Of course, I didn't know this when I first saw the trailer in theaters and I too thought it was a cheap rip-off. Turns out it's not.. it's actually a better film (haven't read the books). - Kevingarcia 06:41, 11 March 2006 (UTC)
- It seems that both games are from the same manufacturer, heh. What a relief. It was suspicious for me too 81.44.110.186 19:25, 14 October 2007 (UTC)
- I believe that what the author did for Zathura was have two boys find the Jumanji game. They didn't want to play it, so they turned it over and found the Zathura game on the other side of the board. Don't quote me on that though. MelicansMatkin 03:36, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

Some book facts mixed up with the movie?
editIn Zathura (film)#Trivia it says that the "Purple Planet" of Zathura in the book was replaced by a black hole in the movie. This page describing the book uses the same "black hole" reference. Its the movie page incorrect? Or did someone who only saw the movie add that, thinking it was unchanged from the move. (My high school english teachers used to warn me against not reading the book and just watching the movie adaptations. I think this was why.) Since I've neither seen the book nor the movie, I can't say for sure. Andrew.langmead 23:32, 7 January 2007 (UTC)
The trivia section was removed from the film link I mentioned above, but was available until about here [[1]], my question still stands though. Was the destination of the book the "Purple Planet" or a "Black Hole"? The movie page implies that the black hole was a construct only from the movie and not from this book. The movie was also great. I can't believe the older boy didn't want to play. Still, once the younger boy started playing, they both had to play until it was all done. Extremely good movie. I actually watched it first when I was probably like, um, probably about 8. Here. I'll get you in. Basically the younger kid was bored, and when the older kid scared him down to the basement, the younger boy found a board game. He set it up, and then, once he moved, he read the card wrong ("A card came out,"), and his big brother read it correctly ("Meteor shower"), thus setting off a meteor shower. They have all these adventures, until a black hole finishes the game, taking them back to Earth. Ian.bjorn (talk) 21:00, 2 October 2010 (UTC)
Fritz
editFritz the dog? Who is Fritz? I noted no dog in the movie or in Jumanji. Lots42 (talk) 11:05, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
- In the books. The author srew his dog as into each book. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Melune (talk • contribs) 19:36, 27 September 2008 (UTC)

editThis article needs serious and comprehensive improvement. Has anyone actually read the book that can do a writeup? Chrisbrl88 (talk) 08:56, 20 April 2010 (UTC)
A novel?
editCan this really be classed as a novel? It has several novel categories as well as being listed with the Novels project. Same with Jumanji. Robina Fox (talk) 23:49, 5 March 2018 (UTC)
Is it not important to mention that the whole story takes place on Saturn's belt?
editI haven't seen this mentioned anywhere, even the movie poster shows a red planet dissimilar to the yellowish hue of Saturn. It's bizarre. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 185.97.92.125 (talk) 19:28, 2 March 2022 (UTC)
