This template is for use as a shortcut to indicate female former names (such as a birth, or maiden, name no longer used) appearing in articles. It additionally takes a single optional parameter, the birth name, creating a non-breaking space between the two words.
This may be used for any change of name, whether due to marriage or not, and may be followed by the full birth name, or by the birth surname only, when only the surname has changed.
There is a properly spelled redirect to this template at {{née}}, but this template without the "é" character may be easier to type (depending on the keyboard layout used).
