The Milkmaid is a 2020 Nigerian drama film directed and written by Desmond Ovbiagele. It was selected as the Nigerian entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 93rd Academy Awards, but it was not nominated.[1] The film stars Anthonieta Kalunta, Gambo Usman Kona, and Maryam Booth.

Plot
editThis 2020 Nigerian movie tells the story of a Fulani milkmaid who confronted religious extremists in the remote parts of Sub-Saharan Africa in a journey to locate her missing sister but her efforts to recapture her disrupted past seemed futile.

editThe Milkmaid was listed as one of the top 20 Nigerian movies of 2020. The film won Best film in African language and was nominated for eight awards.
Accolades
editAt the 16th African Movie Academy Awards, the film was nominated for eight awards, ultimately winning Best Film, Best Film in an African Language, Best Actress in a Supporting Role, Best Makeup, and Best Nigerian Film.[2] The Milkmaid also won the Narrative Feature Award at the 2021 Pan African Film Festival in Los Angeles.[3]
