The 1896 Ashes series was a series of Test cricket matches contested between England and Australia for the Ashes. It formed part of the 1896 Australian tour of England. The three-test series began on 22 June 1896 at Lord's in London and ended on 16 August 1896 at The Oval on London.
England won the series 2-1 to retain the Ashes they had won in 1893.
