About me
editWhen I first joined Wikipedia, I intended to keep my identity private. However, due to assumptions and accusations from the community, I feel it’s necessary to share a bit about myself. First off, y’all can call me CycoMa, the origin of my username is a mystery even to me. But I know I made when I was a kid.
I’m currently a university student in my early twenties, expecting to earn my bachelor’s degree in 2025.(In other words, I’m a college senior.) Judging by my personality I’m kind of a nerdy frat boy lol. After graduation, I plan to pursue graduate school in my late twenties.
I’ve been contributing to Wikimedia projects since 2018 while I was in high school. I was initially as an IP editor, then later creating my account in 2020. Before I joined the project I was like most Gen Zers, I grew up obsessed with the internet and attended public school like most Americans children. I had an interesting family thought.
My mother is an accountant and my father was a former journalist and soldier. My mother came from a low income family and studied accounting. My father on the other hand came from a high earning family, due to his mother being a head nurse after she graduated from Washington University in Saint Louis.
I was raised Catholic, though I later identified as agnostic due to some disagreements with many doctrines. I join the Boy Scouts of America, I eventually left the Boy Scouts due to bullying. I later joined the 4-H.
When I became a teenager, I enrolled in a vocational school for engineering while still in high school. Around this time, I converted to Buddhism.
After graduating from high school, I enrolled at a community college in mid-Missouri. During this period, I reconnected with Christianity, though not as a Catholic, I nonetheless still identified culturally with Catholicism.
The COVID-19 pandemic forced me into online learning. This gave me extra free time, but unfortunately it also brought feelings of loneliness. The combination of these factors, alongside access to academic resources, motivated me to take Wikimedia more seriously. I then eventually became one of the most active users on the English Wikipedia.
After earning my associate degree, I transferred to the University of Missouri and simultaneously enrolled in a liberal arts college. To my surprise, I even made the Dean’s List, though I still don’t fully understand how.
