Who is Darcrist?

edit

I'm a 30ish network administrator, and de-facto leader of an anti-cheat Unreal Tournament 2004 gaming team and community, Team Crackaz. If you are interested in finding out lots more about me, may I suggest you visit my personal website, Chaosmatrix.Net and read some of my postings. I'm just too lazy to duplicate all of my information here. Sorry ;-)

Online Life

edit

I started online practically before the internet existed in the eyes of the public (early in the '90s), was Sysop and Assistant Sysop on several dial-up BBS's in the (516) area code. My handle dates from those days, and in the event you recognize it, yes, it was probably me that you knew. (Drop me a note and we'll IM each other and lie about the better days before the internet)

(On a personal BBS side note, "Primus" from the "geek farm" on Long Island, NY, USA, if you read this, get back in touch)

Since the onset of the information age, I've gone from computer tinkerer, to PC Technician, to Network Tech, to Network administrator. I have obtained, over the past 14 years, in depth experience in Windows (and all its hideous varieties), more recently Linux, and am an expert in Novell NetWare and the Novell branded Linux known as SUSE. To add the the pile of tech stuff, I'm also a freelance web designer and consultant for everything from site design to network and digital phone and security systems.

I'm also an avid player of PC games, and spend lots of time playing things like Unreal Tournament 2004, Diablo II, Doom 3, Civilization III, as well as classic games from old console systems via ROM Emulation like Metroid and Super Metroid.

In addition to playing games, I also build maps and levels for most games I play that allow it. Recently, this means Capture the flag and Onslaught maps for Unreal Tournament 2004, but there are others as well. Again, for more information, visit [1] or Crackaz

Points of View

edit

I personally can't stand the fact that there are ignoramuses out there who feel that wikipedia should be used for their own silly amusements, and will happily mark their junk for deletion. I'm not big on adding content, even spelling mistakes, and probably spend as much time just reading articles as I do fishing for loser created crapola (which gives me great joy to find and mark for deletion).

I'm fairly new to posting and making changes on wikis, so please forgive silly/stupid mistakes, and do bring them to my attention. I do try not to make the same one twice. I'll also take any advice on wiki syntax where you can give it (wheeeee! another markup language to memorize!)
