Hi, I come from the Island of Aruba. I used to live in New Jersey and where I attended Rutgers University, I'm in the Engineering School in the Electrical and Computer Engineering department.
So far my biggest contribution has been adding couple of spoken articles to wiki commons. The articles are Aruba and Culture of Aruba. In the near future I will be focusing on making more recordings related to Aruba from the Catagory:Aruba page.
When I first came across wikipedia, I didn't believe that you could edit it. When I first read it, I thought I read it wrong. Then I looked for something minor to edit, a grammar correction or something. I found it in a program that was given, it didn't compile correctly so I fixed it. Ever since I have been hooked. I created an account and slowly have been learning how to become a contributing wikipedian ever since. The number of articles on wikipedia so far: 6,929,826
Why the name dirtyliberal, well first off I think it's funny. It came to me after the 2004 US presidential election. The US media was obsessed with Conservative vs Liberal bias, which I thought is/was moronic. Conservatives act if they believe liberals to be the very spawns of Satan. So I though I would call my self liberal because in defiance of conservative opinion [the loud part of the public] that believed liberals are evil. The dirty in my name, refers to playing dirty with conservatives. Which in my mind is basically just telling the truth and standing up for what you believe in.
Why I like to wiki. For one, to wiki sounds fun. Wikipedia allows everybody in the world to learn, to share knowledge and to grow. When I truly realized what wiki was on its potential as a resource and an educational instrument. I thought I finally found that one web-site that I have been looking for. The website that will allow me to reach my knowledge goals.
Wikipedia and its sister projects, especially Wikibooks, are the tools I will use to react my goals or higher learning and just learning in general. As my seen below I know 4 languages, I won't to push that number to double digits. There are a couple of fields and a couple of new hobbies I'll pick up thanks to Wikibooks and when wikiversity really starts growing with more books I'll be like a kid in a candy store. I don't want to only take from wiki, I want to give to. A to-do list I have include expanding article related to my native Island of Aruba, adding more spoken articles, [if you can't understand me let me know :) ], introducting more people to Wikipedia and one day becoming an administrator.
