Those who wish to know what my real name is know where to look. I used to be known on here as LichYoshi, but after some years of not actively contributing to the site due to a change in personal priorities, the sleeping behemoth has awoken and I'm now back under my new moniker. Call me Dyluck, for short. I have a tendency to disappear for a while and re-surface as my other commitments allow.
That aside, I live in the city of Brisbane, which lies on the east coast of Australia, a fraction north of the most easterly point of the continent. I used to be a student of Town Planning at the University of Queensland, as a result of my interests in geography and transport. I have a great interest in music, singing in a choir and occasionally writing the odd tune or two for my friends or their projects; to add a twist, I also learnt to play the bagpipes (Great Highland Bagpipe in particular), though I gave up playing regularly in 2010. Although I like to consider it my main hobby, music (especially composition) is prone to lapses in inspiration and motivation. I also like to write, although I have not produced anything for a number of years now as I seek to improve my craft. I have a fantasy novel that's been in development since 1998, and I wrote a complicated sort of fanfiction from approximately 2000-2007. Being raised on a diet of video games, I find inspiration for both of my crafts from this source. I also believe it is what also pointed me towards becoming a member of the Furry fandom, from which I find further inspiration. I also have a love of languages, and after teaching myself some introductory Latin, I am currently using the Heisig method to teach myself kanji in preparation to learn Japanese. In late 2013, I was introduced to the game Ingress, which I am quite involved in as it caters to my socio-geographic interests. If I'm not working, learning kanji, furthering my creative projects, or editing Wikipedia, I'm often out furthering the cause of the Enlightened.
I have travelled somewhat extensively, most notably an eight-month stint during 2009 in parts of the United States (and Vancouver), followed by a three month stint through summer and fall of 2015 in Virginia and Florida where I married my partner of many years. It is my intent to move to the United States permanently.
I came onto Internet in 1997 with a "56K" modem; this lasted over eight years until I got a cable connection in December 2005. Since moving house, my primary access was via ADSL2+ for a few years, until I moved to another place with cable access once more.
Wikipedianess

I was introduced to Wikipedia some time in late 2004 or early 2005 (I forget). I signed up as a Wikipedian in April 2005 after I had made a few minor contributions and fixed a few linguistic errors here and there anonymously for some time beforehand. My contributions made under my former LichYoshi moniker mainly lie in entries related to the Seiken Densetsu/Mana series of video games. For a while, I had some sort of (masochistic) pleasure in occasionally patrolling new Wikipedia articles, seeking rewards in occasionally finding something warranting BJAODN's attention (or so I hoped). I stopped being a regular contributor sometime in 2007, and became more of a reader.
I love to learn about things, so I use Wikipedia as a source of general knowledge about the topics I'm interested in, which predominantly revolve around history, geography and chemistry. It is because I continue to use this site that I've popped up here and there on pages I've come across in my reading projects that have needed some copyediting. It was after I discovered a string of poorly written and neglected articles in my U.S. Highway project that I decided in mid-2012 to make a come-back of sorts, update this page and be more active in fixing errors, or at least highlighting the things that I am not confident enough to fix, in the hope that someone else will.
I believe in unconventional knowledge and respecting the positive contributions of editors. This is pertinent especially in articles about towns and cities where local knowledge is the primary source. I will tend to ask for verification rather than delete material; however, if something has been left unverified for years, I will tend to remove it from the article proper.

editCurrent Project: U.S. Highways

Paired with Google Earth, I have been doing some "virtual tourism" by following the course of U.S. Highways at "helicopter-level" from terminus to terminus according to their mileposts as written here on Wikipedia, i.e. south-to-north and west-to-east. I intend to do them all in numerical order (call me crazy, if you so wish!). While I "travel" along them, I refer to the highway articles, intersecting State highway articles, town and city articles, county and state articles, and other related articles that I find to be relevant/interesting, typically those with a marker in Google Earth.
After discovering a bunch of poorly written or unwritten highway articles in Montana and improving or writing them, I am currently revisiting U.S. Highway 1 and trying to bring the intersecting highways' articles up to at least a "C standard" according to the U.S. Roads WikiProject, if possible. I'm currently revising some of the articles in Miami-Dade County until I reach my Current point again.
Highway | Stopping Point | Junction | Location | |

Other Projects
edit- World History: 1801 to the present by year in Notable Events and Science and Technology
- Progress: 1914 ≈53%
- Reason: Because I thought it was shameful that I didn't understand how the modern world formed. I also want to study geopolitics for the sake of my fantasy novel. I will probably revisit this from the beginning as I started this project over ten years ago and many more articles have been written during that time.
- Countries of the World: History and Depiction, A-Z
- Progress: Afghanistan '≈'0.4%
- Reason: Something that I've tried to do for a long time, since I got the first Encarta as a kid. The main part of this task involves national anthems, flags and coats of arms. This also includes generally recognised countries without legal status (but not micronations).
- Note to self: List of country name etymologies.
- National Capital Cities of the World, A-Z
- Progress: 0%
- Reason: Doing national capitals by country alphabetically is easy enough. One would start with Kabul (or Sukhumi) and end with Harare. But wouldn't it be more interesting if countries were listed alphabetically according to their capitals? So, I am starting with Abidjan and going to Zagreb instead. I'm also pairing this with having a look at each city in Google Earth.
- Chemical Elements and Isotopes
- Progress: Boron ≈4%
- Reason: Another project from my Encarta days, I wish to know more about the chemical elements and their isotopes. While I feel a lot of the articles go over my head, it's still interesting to learn about the fundamental parts of the Universe and how they differ from one another.
To Do List
edit- You -> the player project - The use of "you" in video game articles is one of my biggest pet peeves; if video games are to be taken as a serious medium the way one would take fine art, and not with the attitude of ephemerality that is commonplace, then the articles need to be as professional as possible. If I come across an instance of the second person being used outside of quoting text, I will leap on it like a hyper Rabite with a vengeance. Apart from that, I intend to go through all of the video game articles and rewrite all references to the second person as third, as per WP:CVG/GL. Wish me luck.

- This is the old (as of 1st March, 2007) plot summary from the Secret of Mana article, saved here because it's well-written, but just too long for the article.

- Until I find more relevant/interesting userboxes, all of the old ones are here. Some are still current. Some aren't.
