Problems
- The Score extension has been disabled for now. This is because of a security issue. It will work again as soon as the security issue has been fixed. [1]
Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 7 July. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 8 July. It will be on all wikis from 9 July (calendar).
Future changes
- Abstract Wikipedia is a new Wikimedia project. It will collect language-independent information that can be easily read in different languages. It builds on Wikidata. The name is preliminary. You can read more. [2]
- The iOS Wikipedia app developers are thinking about new experimental tools. If you use an iPhone you can help them by answering the survey.
- Some rules for user signatures will soon be enforced. Lint errors and invalid HTML will no longer be allowed in user signatures. Nested substitution will not be allowed. A link to your user page, user talk page or user contributions will be required. You can check if your signature works with the new rules. This is because the signatures can cause problems for tools or other text on the page.

Relisting AfD
You have voted "keep" on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Gaurav Taneja. You should not be the one to "relist" since you are involved in the AfD. Generally I believe that contentious AfDs such as this should be left to uninvolved admins since they have ability to "delete" the page if needed. Otinflewer (talk) 16:16, 9 July 2020 (UTC)
- Otinflewer, It applies for WP:NACD and WP:BADNAC not for WP:RELIST. Please revisit the policies. ~ Amkgp 💬 16:24, 9 July 2020 (UTC)
- Amkgp what exactly are you citing here? You, as a voter on the AFD, cannot relist it. Praxidicae (talk) 16:35, 9 July 2020 (UTC)
- A relist is a type of administrative action, and therefore involved editors should not be relisting. If you really want to be nitpicky about WP:RELIST, it says debates should not be relisted more than twice (and that bolding is on the page!). I have undone your relist. Primefac (talk) 16:50, 9 July 2020 (UTC)
- Primefac, I apologize for the mistake. It was never done in bad faith. Taking a learning from mistakes can I relist debates where I am not-involved next time? Thank you. ~ Amkgp 💬 18:02, 9 July 2020 (UTC)
- @Primefac: Taking aside the issue of involved, for which I have already apologized. I am asking for clarity only, why these debates Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Markus U. Diethelm, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Honey Bafna and especially Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Lithuanian Medical Students' Association and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Christian Duffy are relisted more than twice as WP:RELIST says debates should not be relisted more than twice. Thank you ~ Amkgp 💬 18:41, 9 July 2020 (UTC)
- Should not is not must not, and sometimes a discussion does need a third relist. For clarity, I undid your relist because you participated in the discussion; my comment regarding the fact that it was a third relist was to show you that even if you are going to nitpick your justification for relisting despite commenting, you shouldn't have done it in the first place. Primefac (talk) 19:27, 9 July 2020 (UTC)
- Primefac, I got what you wanted to highlight. Now, as I have understood my fault can I participate in AfD relisting only where I am not involved and there is a relist need/or would be benefited. Thank you ~ Amkgp 💬 19:40, 9 July 2020 (UTC)
- Hi Amkgp - Primefac may choose to answer your question to them, but if you don't mind I'll give you my thoughts on the matter. First things first - while a relist doesn't close a discussion, it should only happen because someone acting as a closer has carefully considered the other available options, and decided that relisting is the best choice. If you have participated in a discussion by offering an opinion, you can not take on the role of closing that discussion, and so relisting is not something you should ever consider doing if you have participated.
- Then we come onto the question of whether you can 'participate in AfD relisting' where you are not involved. I wonder whether you have read WP:RELISTBIAS? While WP:NACAFD invites non-admins to close discussions that are clear and obvious keeps, it does not mention relists. While I am not telling you that you may not relist AfD discussions, I'd like to suggest that you do not. Certainly you shouldn't consider it to be a routine maintenance task that needs someone to come along and do it - it's actually rarely helpful, far too many unnecessary relists occur at AfD, and in most circumstances it would be better to allow an admin to review and decide whether other options (like a soft delete) is the better outcome. GirthSummit (blether) 10:34, 10 July 2020 (UTC)
- Girth Summit, Thanks for the detailed explanation. I had gone through the essays you mentioned before starting to contribute at AfD venue, but somehow I overlooked the important things. I have apologized for the actions and would be careful from next time. I have decided to limit my participation on 'relisting'. Thank you ~ Amkgp 💬 10:48, 10 July 2020 (UTC)
- Amkgp, thanks. I think that if someone wants to participate at AfD, the most useful thing they can do is to read the articles that the discussions are about carefully, look for sources, consider notability, and then actually participate in the discussions! Re: whatculture speedy deletion
Hi if another editor removes the speedy tag it is an indication that the speedy deletion is not completely uncontroversial. It is best if you nominate that article for deletion rather than revert. G4 is for articles that are almost exactly the same as the previously deleted one. Considering the sources are newer than the deletion this is unlikely to apply. This was already declined by another user and therefore may be controversial and there was a contest both from the creator and another user on the talk page. Any user who is not the page creator can remove a speedy tag and it is not necessarily a good idea to reinstate it. I didn't get a notification that you had undone it because you used Twinkle and only saw it on my watchlist. Thanks for your time. PainProf (talk) 20:11, 12 July 2020 (UTC)
Speedy deletion declined: See also: Aftab Shivdasani filmography
Hello Amkgp. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of See also: Aftab Shivdasani filmography, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: This is an attempt at a split, so the CSD doesn't apply. Whether the split is valid or not is not material to CSD, and should be discussed. I will move this page to a better name (without the 'See also: ' prefix without a redirect as this title is clearly wrong. . Thank you. GedUK 10:13, 13 July 2020 (UTC)

Sorry, can I ask why I was pinged? I haven't edited that article in over a decade -- or am I missing something? Josh Milburn (talk) 16:12, 6 July 2020 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) @J Milburn: The ping came from WP:Requests for page protection#Death of Neda Agha-Soltan, where your opinion is requested. Favonian (talk) 21:45, 6 July 2020 (UTC)
- @J Milburn and Favonian: There is a consensus in moving the page Death of Neda Agha-Soltan → Shooting of Neda Agha-Soltan, but the page is move protected. I kindly request to remove move protection temporarily/transfer protection to proposed move. See the move discussion Talk:Death_of_Neda_Agha-Soltan#Requested_move_2_July_2020. Thank you all ~ Amkgp 💬 01:28, 7 July 2020 (UTC)
- My question was why I was being contacted, and I'm afraid I'm none the wiser. If the ping was for me personally: I have no opinion on this and I am not involved. If the ping was for me as a random uninvolved administrator: I've never really done any work at RFPP. I'm sure a regular there will be along to help out soon enough. Josh Milburn (talk) 08:41, 7 July 2020 (UTC)

- The plot thickens! J Milburn merely moved the page, carrying along the protection. According to the log of the original title, the move protection was actually due to Tom harrison. This should be a good test for admin long-term memory. Favonian (talk) 10:57, 7 July 2020 (UTC)

- Tom harrison's edit and move protections expired at 12:34, 22 June 2009 (yes, he moved the protections and cancelled them from the same moment). Yet at 14:12, 23 June The Anome moved protection settings to Neda Agha-Soltan. Is it possible to move non-existent settings? At the same instant The Anome deleted Neda Agha-Soltan. At 20:24, 23 June 2009 @J Milburn: moved protection settings from Neda Agha-Soltan to Death of Neda Agha-Soltan. How can protection settings be moved from a deleted page? And what (if anything) happened between 14:12 and 20:24 on 23 June 2009? 2A00:23C5:E117:6100:A145:30B4:5C48:5510 (talk) 10:53, 8 July 2020 (UTC)

- WanjohiK, The draft language suggests it to be biased where as the other two articles are written from a neutral point of view. If you are closely connected with the draft subject or writing on behalf, then you also need to declare WP:COI or WP:UPE. ~ Amkgp 💬 02:43, 8 July 2020 (UTC)

Unexpected closing of a requested move
Hi.
Please avoid closing requested move discussions like you did at Talk:Manila_Metro_Rail_Transit_System#Requested_move_4_July_2020. The last reply to the thread was literally within 48 hours, yet you closed it as "no consensus". It's quite disappointing, especially that this is a series of RMs involving railway lines in the Philippines. Could you please explain why you did that?
