The Cab

edit

You've requested unprotection for the deleted article The Cab. Your proposed article at User:Arbocalaviv/The Cab is an excellent start. The article has been deleted seven times (first version was July 2007); at least five times it was deleted for not asserting notability. It appears your proposal doesn't have a strong claim to notability, and is unlikely to survive a notability debate. Perhaps you can seek input from some of the music-related Wikiprojects for ideas to improve the article. Previous contributors to the article include user:Naquita, user:Crazycircusdream, user:KkongR, user:Fueledbyalie, user:Alisha1292, and user:PanicMCRFallOutTAI. Perhaps they can help. —EncMstr (talk) 01:34, 22 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

I see you've added some content, but I don't see how the band meets any of the criteria at Wikipedia:Notability_(music)#Criteria_for_musicians_and_ensembles. The notability item (or items) should be mentioned in the lead section. Supporting references should be present in the body of the article where it expands on the lead subjects. —EncMstr (talk) 00:12, 23 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Party Foul (song)

edit

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Party Foul (song), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Party Foul Article

edit

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. It's great to see new editors improving and contributing to the site. What the Party Foul article lacks right now is any sources or claim to notability. Basically, the article should state why the song is important and cite reliable sources such as news articles or download data to back it up. I'll give you a chance to find some sources before making any attempt to put the article up for deletion again. Benjaminx (talk) 05:09, 13 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Re: Help a noob please :)

edit

Hey there - the effect isn't as dynamic as it looks at first. Basically, it's simply changing the font of each letter after another - rather than an actual fade effect. The coding for it is thus -

[[User: The Haunted Angel|<b><font color="#0000DD">Th<font color="#0066FF">e H<font color="#0099FF">au<font color="#00CCFF">nt<font color="#00EEFF">ed </font>A</font>n</font>ge</font>l</font></b>]]

As you can see, the font colour is changed each couple of letters slighty to look like it's fading - so if you wanted it, simply change the first part of the link to your user page, and then change the actual letters in the second part of the link (the bits you are changing the colour of) to you name, however many letters at a time. Just in case you don't know how to change your sig, go to "my preferences" and put the finished sig in the signature box - ensure that the "raw sig" box is ticked. Apart from that, it works exactly how regular coding on Wikipedia does - hope that helps!!! ≈ The Haunted Angel 21:51, 28 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free media (File:DangerRadioPunch.jpg)

edit

Thanks for uploading File:DangerRadioPunch.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:05, 19 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for uploading File:DangerRadioUsedAbused.PNG. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Message from WikiProject Emo

edit

Hello!

You may be interested to know that WikiProject Emo has recently undergone a major revitalization. Please visit the project page to see our new look and check out some of our helpful new features, such as the Assessment Department and the Collaboration of the month.

We are currently holding a roll call to help gauge how many active project members we have. Please visit the project's talk page and add your signature to the roll sheet to express your continued interest in the project. Also, if you have not already done so, please take a minute to add your name to the Participants page along with a brief summary of your emo-related interests, so that other project members will be better able to collaborate with you. If you do not add your signature to the roll sheet by March 31, 2009 your name will be moved to our list of inactive members. We may also take the liberty of removing the project userbox from your userpage if it appears there, to prevent you from automatically appearing in Category:WikiProject Emo members. Of course you are free to rejoin the project and re-add the userbox at any time if you would like to become active in the project again.

Thank you and we hope you will continue to support WikiProject Emo!

File permission problem with File:The cab.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:The cab.jpg, which you've sourced to MySpace. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 22:06, 27 June 2012 (UTC)Reply
